Hi everybody! I'm Sar but you can call me Mystic if you like. ;) I started my pin collection about 8 months ago. It all started with a Boo pin I got at DCA and grew from there. I've done a few trades but I'm wary of trading because I've gotten scrappers before and it's really upsetting when I just get it because I like it not because it's an LE 300 knockoff. Kept them because I still do like how they look but that just taints the spirit of trading. It's really fun to search out cast members with landyards and I love going to Disneyland to see my CM friends! Wish I could live there and sometimes it almost feels like I do xP I was thinking about going to the event tonight but I'm too shy x3

Oh yeah, and I'm really proud of my pics x3 They aren't prefect cuz I only used my phone but I really like them and love the castle during Christmas time ^_^

Welcome to the forum!

The PTN event would probably be a little chaotic and intense, for someone just starting out in pin trading. If you visit the Parks often, I would recommend striking up a conversation with a pin trader. Most are very friendly and some are quite chatty. Pretty soon, you'll start to feel more comfortable and you can figure out with whom you'd like to trade. Just remember that you are in control and have the right to say no to any trade. So if you get someone who is pushing you to trade and you don't feel comfortable, just politely decline.

If fake pins are a concern, I would recommend employing the utmost caution when trading from cast member lanyards as my experience has been that that is where I have picked up most of my fake pins.

Ultimately, I think you'll find that your newish hobby has many very friendly people with whom you share a common interest. You may find yourself becoming a little less shy, as you strike up friendships and become an accomplished pin trader.

Best of luck! :)

Yay for many welcomes! ^w^ Thank you! and thanks for the compliments on the sig/avvie. I wish they could come out and decorate my house! :D

Thanks for the advice Lamorak :) I guess it is a little hard at first just cuz I don't know much but that'll come with time. I do hope that I can be an awesome pin trader in the future. I would like to go to a PNT sometime just so I can meet some of the people.

Hi Mystic! Like you, my collection started out with just one pin but eventually (and rather quickly) expanded into several thousand. I swore I would not get "caught up" in another collecting craze after Beanie Babies, but collecting must be in my genes. Gotta luv it! Welcome to DPF! Happy trading from your Pin Pal...Bruce @ Disneyboysmousehouse
