Hello there!

I went to register only to find out I had already had...forever ago! (Huzzah for Mommy brain) I'm honestly not sure if I introduced myself when I first registered or not so let's call this a REintroduction, LOL!

I'm pretty new to collecting/trading aside from getting a few pins that caught my eye while on vacation. I have 3 children under 6 and the next trip we have to Disney World (hopefully within the next year...why are you so expensive Disney?!?) I'd like to get them (and me, of course) into trading while there. I have a friend who does this with her kids and gave me a TON of "trading fodder" as she calls it. I'm looking more into it and seeing there seems to be quite a few fakes floating around out there and hoping they're all legit...so a researching I will go!

Thanks in advance for putting up with the newbie questions I'm sure will follow as I start the journey. :)

Welcome back!

The scrapper situation can be scary, but there are many experts here that can help you identify a fake if you ask! And over time I'm sure you'll feel like a pro at spotting them on your own, too! Just take it slow and don't buy any of the cheap grab bags off eBay!

:)

Thanks for the warm welcome! :)

Ninpin, I have a feeling that's just what she did...the dreaded ebay lots! I'm noticing quite a few doubles and some that are from the same set but they look like they're different quality...I have a while to go before I can really pick them out. Hopefully you all won't get sick of the questions, lol!

Aw, I'm sorry! Yeah, it's amazing how obvious some fakes can become when you are able to hold one next to an authentic pin of the same set! I have an authentic pin and a fake pin of the same thing, and the fake one is bigger/thicker, less shiny and has bad lines/details compared to the authentic one - even part of the enamel is the wrong color! I like holding onto fakes to use as comparisons in the future. Really helps to identify others.
