Hi everyone, I have met some of you in the chat room, but I wanted to take a second and introduce myself. I am a 43 year old mother of four, we live 2.5 hours away from WDW, I started pin trading during a visit to the parks two weeks ago and I have to confess I'm addicted. I have been three times in the last two weeks, and getting ready t go again this weds. Good thing is that I'm finding, pin trading is allowing me to stay close to my kids.
I have to say at first I was interested in every pin I saw, I have started to narrow my interests.

My goal is to collect beauty and the beast, I have an idea in my mind of what I want my board to look like, I basically want to tell the story of the movie through the pins and have it framed.

Im lucky enough to live near st. Augustine where they have a trading night every Friday at the character premier store. Unfortunately I have not been ale to get my hands on any belle pins for my collection, and I'm scared of buying on eBay as I don't want to end up with scrappers.

So in the mean time, I have been trading and buying pins for my other favorites, little mermaid, stitch, finding nemo and some NBC.

Im really anxious to start finding the pins I need for my Beauty and the Beast Board.

I like to help others, so if I can pick up anything for you from WDW including Downtown Disney, please just ask. I am getting ready to buy an annual pass this week and I don't mind the driving. We homeschool so I will take any excuse to get out of the house.
Thanks again for this wonderful forum.

I'm sure alot of people on here who live so far away, like I do will appreciate your offer. I also agree with you that its another way to stay conected to your children, I only have one but as he's gotten older with expanding teenage interests, pin trading has stayed.

Welcome! You're so right, it's a great way to spend some time with your kids. All of us in our family got hooked on a trip to WDW almost two weeks ago now and we're having a great time looking at all kinds of pins and trying to figure out which we want for our own collections.

Oh, and thanks for the offer to pick things up for people. I've noticed there are quite a few people who live outside Florida so we'll all be grateful to have someone local to help out!

Hello! I'm a WDW local myself! How do you do?
My name's Alexa. I'm on property just about everyday doing something different.
I've only got one Belle pin for trade unfortunately.

That's such a cool idea! Be sure to post photos of it in the Pin Showroom, either in progress or when it's complete.

Welcome fellow newbie! Well, I have been trading for a total of about 5 years, but the past year I have been doing it almost full time. Call it early retirement.

You asked about buying from Ebay and scrappers. AVOID buying from Ebay like the plague. Read notes for pins on PinPics to learn what to look for on scrappers, because even cast members have them. It is not because Disney is trying to be cheap, it is because the market is flooded with scrappers due to those mega packs sold on Ebay.

What I have been doing more of lately is buying LE's (Limited Editions) in sets of 2 or 3. One for me, the rest for trading a couple or sometimes three open edition pins that I am after. Or if you put together a complete set of cast lanyards, sometimes you can trade for a couple older LE's that folks do not want.

Just watch out for those which would take advantage of you by trying to say that what you have is not tradable or collectible. Everything is tradable or collectible, to someone. It's just a matter of finding who wants it.

That's the fun of pin trading! Always a challenge to get what you want, but soooo nice when you finally find that last one!

Enjoy!

Dave

HI welcome, i be we will trade at some point. FYI there is a big PTN (pin trading night) on may 11th at the Contemporary resort, look above on the calendar button--someone will post even more details when it is close i am sure. Clear your calendar.

Trudy, thanks for the offer, I see several of your traders that are on my wanted list but I have nothing that you need. You have some stitch and little mermaids that I would love to have.

Thanks, I saw the nfo about that trading event, but we will be on a cruise and won't be back until the 13th, I'm bummed. But I cleared calendar for the event in Epcot in September.

Do you work for Disney? I am going this Wednesday, with my son and daughter, just to trade and learn more. I have gone trading at DTD but not the actual parks, I'm hoping we can catch scoop and see his trades. One Belle pin is better than nothing. My problem is having others find something that I have that they want.
maybe we will see you at WDW on weds.
