Hi everyone...my name is sherry. I am very new to this site and pin trading. I am just trying to figure things out. please drop me a line to say hi or give me advice. I love stitch pins and funny pins the most.

Hi there -- I found that when I had just discovered DPF, despite having many years of pin collecting in my family's past, one of the most helpful things to do first was establish an account at PinPics (simply: pinpics.com) and identify the pins that I had versus the pins that I wanted. :) Give it a shot and don't get too overwhelmed by our abbreviations for everything.

Welcome. <3

Hello, and welcome!! My biggest advice is to learn the difference between scrappers and good pins. It can define your collection and reputation! If you have any questions, feel free to private message me!! Good luck, and again, welcome!

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I look forward to getting to know you all and hopefully be friends. OH and learn a lot about pins too.

Hello,

I am new too, so let's learn together this DPF world!!!
One of the advice to get pin pic account was already given to me so I think that one thing to do first

Welcome to the forum :-) I've only just started posting here too after being a member for a while. As already suggested create a pin pics account. And don't be scared to ask any questions along the way. X

Hi! Welcome to DPF! If you have any questions, I'm more than willing to help in any way possible.

Aloha Sherry and Welcome! :wavey:

Don't feel bad about being new to pins; remember that even the most experienced pin trader/collector was new at one point. The best advice I can give you is not to be afraid to ask any questions you may have about these shiny pieces of metal. That's really the best way to learn; I'm positive that someone (or several someones) will be more than happy to answer them for you. :)

WElcome to the forum Sherry..... only advice is this, the only dumb question is the one not asked......

This is the best advice on here. Ask questions and the open your mind to the answers. No one person knows everything, but together we know a whole lot.

Welcome! I think it would be best to first set up a pinpics account and link it to your account here. Then pick a theme or themes you'd like to collect, collecting everything is really not a good idea. Maybe buy some pins to use as traders, but don't but the big pin lots on eBay, they're usually scrappers.

Anyhow, hope you enjoy DPF! :)

Hi and welcome to the madness of online forum pin trading,

I'm your host...your ghost host...muah hahahahaha....

Anyhow, my recommendation by experience is just start reading...everything. The pin discussion, the trading forum, the selling and auction forum. That's how I learned the lingo, the value of certain pins, and how people work. It's always interesting to observe the conversation when you are not involved in it ;).

If you have any questions, you can always "PM" me, even if you think they are dumb questions.

Enjoy :)

There is some great advice posted on here! The only other thing I can offer is to jump in and post...ask questions....offer opinions...play some games! We can't wait to getto know you!
