So I have just gotten into pin trading this year and must admit I have been mostly lurking the last few months. I am trying to decide if I want to jump into online pin trading or not.... I also don't live near any of the parks, so it's tough ! A lot of the auctions look to have some pretty cool pins!

I am one of the many Alice in Wonderland and Stitch collectors out there, but the more pins I find out about the more collections I want to start !

Welcome! There are lots of us not near a park, so online trading is the only kind of trading we get to do. It's not so bad, once you learn the ins and outs. There are lots of people here to help and some good written guides to using this site and trading in general. Good luck!

Thanks, all ! Still learning my way around and trying to read u[ on things. Also, any thoughts on how to build a good traders inventory? I know the fab 5 is not so big and I have seen a lot of princesses.

Hi and welcome!! I too started this year, just several months ago actually. It's SOOOOOOO addicting!! I've spent so much money it's crazy! I'm like you, I have not done any trading yet, am sort of scared to, but we'll see. I live in MD, so not near any parks here either! For the most part, I've bought all pins because I like them, so I can't see trading them what so ever. This is going to be so hard! LOL Good luck and have fun!

Aloha and Welcome! :wavey:

There's no rush if you want to jump into online pin trading. I understand that it's difficult living away from parks and there are so many pretty, shiny pieces of metal you'd like to own ... but you're afraid of making a mistake (overtrading, making a bad trade, getting scammed, etc).

I would just take it slowly, at a pace you find comfortable, and always use common sense: remember that if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Don't ever make a trade/sale unless you're 100% comfortable with it, don't let anyone pressure you into making a trade/sale - and don't be afraid to ask questions along the way. Remember that if you're meant to own a pin, it'll find its way to your pin bag (either through trade or purchase) eventually.

I hope this helps, at least for general advice on getting started. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask them. I'm sure that someone (or several someones) will be more than happy to answer them for you. :)

Excellent advice Dancecats - thanks ! As other folks have noted, it's fun a hobby but I could easily go broke ! So the question is always buy or trade ? Or a little of both ?
