I just got a pin that I am positive is real because I bought it from someone on here, and the rest of the pins I got are perfect...here is my dilemma...it has the dreaded ring around the mickeys...is it a known "bug" on this pin? I have heard that some pins were just bad on qa, but the ears don't go to the edge at all. other than that, the pin says everything correct on the back and looks fine. any feed back would be hugely helpful![h=3]Pin 83328 it is a stitch pin that says take me to your trader.[/h]

Just because you got it from someone here does not mean its not a scrapper. Some people are more diligent than others when it comes to inspecting pins. I have actually gotten a couple of them from members, never knowingly I dont think. The only way to ever be 100% positive that something is authentic is to purchase it yourself either in the park or online via Disney directly. I would say for the most part though that on the rare occasions that scrappers get sold/traded, the member is either a fairly new trader or its a pretty good scrapper.

A picture would be great so that people can chime in on what they see.

crap, gotta go read how to post pics...I put it on flikr, but as you can seen it's not showing

Ok, now I am REALLY WORRIED...checked all the rest of the pins, and some of them are fine, but others aren't. it is hit and miss, but the main pins I bought for, the boxes of chocolates, have rings around them...is it ok that I just ask the person to send the pins back and give me my money back? As I was going to keep some, and trade others...this person had a 100% rating on here, and had been a member for a while, so I trusted them. but now I feel really stupid.

For the pin (Pin 83328: DLR - Sci-Fi Academy - Take Me To Your Trader - Stitch), I don't remember there being a scrapper alert on it. If someone else on DPF has it, maybe they can take a couple pics of their pin to show you so you can compare.

Don't feel stupid! You could be worrying for nothing... can you take a picture of the pins you are questioning and post them here? Or give the image link/folder and we can take a look at them for you?

Rings - aka borders - on pins don't necessarily mean scrapper. They used to mean scrapper, but Disney quality has gone down over the past few years and even real pins that you buy at Disneyland yourself can have borders or off-coloring or even no-pupils (on eyes).

thanks so much for the help and feedback everyone...I am SO disappointed in the quality diminishing on pins...they are SO good in pretty much every other area...Wonder if we all start mail bombing them to ask them to bring back Disney service to pins...maybe they need to send some cast members to china to do quality control! for what we pay for the pins...food, etc...come on disney, let's get the standards back up with the pins too :)
