Hello all,
I am new to not only this site but to pin trading as well. So new in fact that we haven't even started.

A bit of my story...

Taking our first family trip to WDW Jan 2013. My 10 yr old daughter wants to pin trade. Have been researching etiquette and techniques and trading spots for what seems like months. Now time to start getting together a starter set.

If anyone has tips or ideas on pin trading for a 10 year old girl in the parks it would be greatly appreciated.

First suggestion is to build up some traders and a couple lanyards... I would definatly avoid EBay for these as most Typical trader lots from there are poorly made fakes... There are many members here on DPF who have tons of extra pins that would make you great package deals on a starter set...

Be sure to get yourself and anyone else in your group lanyards as well... This is much funner to do as a family thing...

WDW has many cast members and pin boards in all their parks and be sure to stop by the guest relation center at each park and hotel lobby and ask to see the traders book... most have large books of pins behind the counter if you ask to see them...

Bring more pins than you think you will need as this becomes addicting and after a day or so, you will not want to give up some of the ones you collect... LOL...

Most of all... Keep it fun and let her pick characters or themes she is interested in... and you do the same...

Good Luck and have a great trip...

Welcome to the forum! So pleased to help you out! <3
Maybe we can meet up when you guys arrive here.

Welcome to the forum. We live in northern Minnesota - spend time in Winnipeg and Kenora. My son plays hockey and plays against a number of different Canadian teams. Where are you from? If you are nearby, perhaps we can get together and trade.

Welcome your daughter will love trading at WDW the staff are really friendly and make it so easy. Never be afraid to approach any of them for a pin trade. The more pins you have the better for trading. Here is a great place to start to get some basic traders.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful welcome. I have already met some wonderful people here and you all are so helpful it is just great!

We are in Saskatchewan, not so close to you really but if ever you head our way... :)

Welcome to DPF and Welcome to wonderful world of Pin Trading!! Hmmm..if we could give you any piece of advice we would say to be wise with your money when it comes to pins! Theres a pretty good chance that you're daughter will want to collect Tangled? or maybe even Ariel? Their pins get quite pricey! just be patient when it comes to prices, always feel free to message any one of us members here on DPF if you need any consult on any Limited Edition pins that you feel are kinda pricey and want to know if its worth it.

This hobby can get quite expensive and that could ruin it for some, but if you keep your eye out for deals, im sure the thrill of pins will never elude you! take care!

All the best!!
