My name is David and I don't make it to the parks a lot. In fact I've only been twice, both to Walt Disney World (1992 & 2012). During the first trip, pin trading apparently wasn't around (but hey, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea WAS!).
On the second trip, I had heard about Disney Pins but had no plans to purchase any. But one day in EPCOT, just outside the America Pavilion, I saw a little hinged Disney World ticket book pin that I had to buy.
I came to realize that pins were the perfect souvenir: they weren't too expensive, wouldn't take up much space in my luggage, and would be great to look through and reminisce later on. I ended up buying eleven of the on card variety focusing on the rides and experiences I had enjoyed on my vacation.
Once home, I regretted that I hadn't purchased any of the smaller pins or traded with cast members. So for the last year I've been scouring eBay for additions to my new collection.
And yesterday I found a link to this site on Wikipedia and signed up. I've already purchased some pins on here from the market section and look forward to hearing about people's collections.
