Hello, fellow Disney fans and pin lovers! I am new here and relatively new to pin collecting and trading, but by no means new to Disney. I was raised on movies like Mary Poppins and Cinderella, and I've probably been to Disneyland close to 100 times. My husband and I mostly purchase pins we like directly from Disneyland, but recently we've started trading with Cast Members and sometimes with other guests. We especially like pins of our favorite characters (Goofy and Chernabog for Hubs, the Queen of Hearts, Donald Duck, and anything Alice in Wonderland related for me), characters you don't see much of, patriotic and pirate themed pins, and sets that strike our fancy. This last trip, we acquired all of the Character Hats set. (Hooray!) Anyway, even though I've been gathering pins here and there for over a decade, I'm still just a babe in the woods when it comes to telling if a pin is genuine or fake, and so I stumbled upon this forum and decided to hang around a while in hopes of gaining wisdom from some of you seasoned pros. :)

Thanks, everyone! I'm looking forward to getting to know you and learning about pin collecting and trading! Hubs and I were going through the pins we acquired on our last trip to DLR last night, and we came across several that are definitely counterfeit, or scrappers at the very least. Some of them were so obvious, I was surprised we didn't notice at the time. Others are really hard to tell, at least for us. I'd love to get any tips on how to tell a counterfeit or scrapper pin before making the trade! :)
