I thought I put my answer already. Glad I did not totally miss my chance to guess. I will go with 1166. 🙂

Okay, so let me try this again..

The answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything is... 42.

But, since you're not asking that question.. I have three more guesstimates as to how many pin backs are in the bag: 1,596; 1,429; and 1,270.

..and if I take the average of my five guesses, I get 1,482.6.

Therefore, my official guess is: 1,483 pin backs are in the bag.
