I was wondering why those based on this side of the pond can't pre-order on the Disney site when we can other sites like Amazon. Has there ever been an explanation as to why the site hasn't got that ability available to their European customers.
 
Nope, none whatsoever. Amazon.co.uk is fine with pre-orders here. Was just wondering why there is a difference. Not a moan.

I can only assume two things, Toy liscensing fees similar to DVD/video games, or the target market of American consumers due to LE count. I've heard several horror stories of customers not recieving due to disney accidentally selling beyond what was available; imagine that on a world wide scale. Also, Amazon is probably able to bypass the pre-order issue being based in the US...

I'm sure it will change. It probably has to do with management (for example, until 2012 or so, the Children's Place ran the Disney Store in Canada, and everything changed when DS took it back). I can see them doing a complete overhaul now that the market for dolls is growing over there. Until Frozen, there was a much higher demand in North America than in UK / Europe.
 
I think it has something to do with the allocation of the amount of dolls and the amount of Stores. Europe has a much lower edition of dolls and I think Disney is trying to avoid a **** storm on preorders. They're already getting a lot of negative reactions to the LE size Europe gets for everything and I think it'll become more negative if they do preorders too. Plus, dolls aren't THAT popular as they are in US.

But I'm just guessing here, EU Disney Store never has any clear answers for anything. I mean, just read their Facebook. You can't get any more vague about something. Europe basically sucks if you want to buy something limited from Disney.
 
I'm not really seeing the benefit to the pre-order. Either you rush to buy the pre-order before it sells out or you rush to buy the doll before it sells out. I would personally prefer not having a pre-order as long as we're sufficiently made aware of when the dolls will be on sale and it would be nice if you could view them in store ahead of time (which I think for the last few pre-orders they didn't have them in store before the actual day?). Maybe the only benefit is if you order online they won't charge your card so you know that you have the next 2 months or so to save up.
 
My theory is that Euro Disney Stores recognise the fact that the Euro market was always a smaller market compared to the US. Yes it has grown since two years ago but when considering the ratios between collectors and non-collectors in the US and the Euro market the Euro market is definitely smaller than the US. As a result I believe that the Euro Disney Stores do not think it necessary to organise a preorder due to the extra work involved with little to no return in doing so. i.e it is not a cost effective endeavour for them.

The only thing that the Euro Disney Stores have ever taken preorders for are the designer doll sets that go on sale before the individual releases.
