Hello,

I just wanted to say hello to my fellow pin lovers. I just got back from my first trip to Disney World as an adult and absolutely fell in loves with the pins! Fortunately for my wallet it really wasn't until the last night so I wasn't able to buy that many. I have spent a ton of time on pinpics.com, ebay, and random other websites educating myself about pins. During my internet surfing I came across DSP and am HOOKED! Happy to find an active community to share this new obsession with.

I am a bit disheartened to learn that some of the trades I made with cast members during my trip are probably scrappers. The good news is that I am learning about the negative of this hobby before I did too much damage on eBay and trading! What do you all do with pins that are scrappers, toss them?

That all being said, I think my collection is going to ceneter around Monsters Inc. & Expedition Everest/Yeti for sure as well as perhaps the below:

1. Enchanted Tiki Room (we went to it without any idea of what it was going to be and had a good time laughing at how silly it was)
2. Ursula/Villains
3. Pirates
4. Who knows what else as I continue to dive deeper into this!

I'm looking to have a collation of pins that I love and not force myself to focus on anything. Want to collect to display in a fun way (still brainstorming that)...not sure how much trading I will do (currently own about 6 real pins none of which are LE's so not enough to even think about trades yet.

Looking forward to sharing this new obsession with you all!

Best,

Hi and welcome to DPF! I got started with pins back during Star Wars Weekends, and it's just grown from there. I actually bought and hung a cork board to display my pins in my house, and while it's quite bare at the moment, I'm sure I'll be adding to it fairly regularly. I went to my first pin trading gathering this past Saturday, and actually was able to trade for a couple of pins I was looking for, for sets I'm trying to complete. The community here is very friendly and helpful, which is great as I've still got a lot to learn. As for scrappers, well I've wound up with a couple through trading with cast members. For now I've just stuck them on a corner of my cork board, but I've read about some folks that have snapped the post off of them and then glued magnets to the back of them to use as refrigerator magnets, so I'm planning on doing something like that with the scrappers I have (as they're still nice looking pins which would make for nice magnets.) In any case, welcome to the forums, and to the very addictive (and fun) hobby of pin collecting. :)

I could copy and paste your story for the introduction I'm about to post! Glad to know I'm not the only one who got sucked in on their last day at Disney!
