From the Official Rules:

The OP recognizes that they are putting a pin up for bid, and they may not necessarily get the offers that they are looking for. While it is encouraged to lead bidders in a direction of style pin you are looking for, reserves are prohibited. A pin put up for auction must be traded to one of the offers made at the specified end date.

A winner should be selected and announced publicly within 24 hours of the auction end date.

Please remember that you are stating *preferences* and *guidelines* to help people make offers that you might be interested in. At the end of the auction, you need to trade the pin. It is not in your best interest to discourage people from bidding. Remember that fewer bids mean fewer choices at the end of the auction.

Hello Dancecats What is an OP?? I dont have a "reserve placed on this trade auction I said only make offers from my wants list Isnt that what our wants list is doing on the left side of the post placed there by the designers of this site I think "reserve" needs some better defining -if that is the case If this is considered a reserve than i will end the auction oh wait that is a no no also Please clarify the ambiguous new rules so people can understand them I dont see where I went wrong saying only place bids or offers from my wants list. If I dont hear back from a mod in the next few hours i will close the auction and we will have a lot of dead space on DPF Auction House

OP = Opening Post. And from the General Rules governing auctions:

  • A specific end date and time must be predominately displayed in the original post of your thread. This end date must be adhered to, as an auction will not be allowed to end early, or be extended. An auction cannot be closed due to unsubstantial bids.
  • The OP recognizes that they are putting a pin up for bid, and they may not necessarily get the offers that they are looking for. While it is encouraged to lead bidders in a direction of style pin you are looking for, reserves are prohibited. A pin put up for auction must be traded to one of the offers made at the specified end date.

What this means is that you can 'guide' people on how to bid for your pins and make suggestions as to which pins will stand a better chance of winning, but to say that 'only' pins on your wants list will be entertained sounds like a trade thread, not an auction to me. Yes, your wants list is useful as it allows people to see what you want, both for trades and for auctions threads. It also allows you to keep track of these pins. If you *only* want pins from your wants list, perhaps you may want to try a trades thread, not an auction. The only reason I pointed that out was because your phrasing might be discouraging people from bidding - and since you are required to trade away the pin at the end of the auction, you probably will want more offers to choose from.

Furthermore, your offer to close the auction isn't an option; per the rules, the end date of the auction must be adhered to.

As far as the reserves go, we (being the DPF staff) are still discussing that. However, I don't see that as applicable in your auction.

I wish you the best of luck with your auction.

Hi Thank you for the explanation of OP and Thank you for getting back to me tonight Im not sure why if i have broken the law here why you wouldnt want to end the auction with no bids as yet I hope the staff discussion on "reserves" which I still dont think i have used here is done with godspeed as it seems vital to the life of the DPF Auction House it is more of an opening bid - anything from my wants- Than a reserve No one would offer anything not on my wants therefore no reserve is in play But until such bugs are worked out i will stick with watching the Trading and Sales and Gatherings and stay clear of the Auction House as it seems the fun of it is being regulated out of its own purpose I had fun placing pins up for auction and I had fun placing bids and watching others auctions I wish you all fun as I thought that was what this was about
