My name is Sara. I recently got caught up by the world of pins, my aunt was sick and loved trading, and use to tell me about it. She recently passed and I inherited all her mins. Some I love and am trying to find a nice way to display them in memory of her, but some I am continuing on the tradition and trading. I had always seen them, but never really understood it, til now.

There is so much to see and learn and do on this site.

What are pin games and zaps and auctions? How do I participate and is there restrictions on it?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!
I'm so sorry for your loss :(
However I think it's really cool that her love of pins has become an interest of yours as well!

I haven't participated in any games or auctions (yet), so someone else will probably be able to help you better on this post! Zaps I believe are when members choose to send a pin (or some other little gift as far as I know could be wrong, mostly pins though I think) to someone without doing a trade or sale and generally without them knowing just to brighten up their day, or including something extra in a trade or order (I had my first zap about a month ago that was included as an extra something special with some pins I bought from a member :) )

Sorry I'm not much help, I just wanted to welcome you, but didn't want to ignore your questions no matter how poor my answers were aha!

Hi and welcome to DPF! :wavey: I'm sorry for your loss. This is such a fun hobby and it's so sweet that your Aunt wanted to share the pin trading tradition with you by leaving you her collection.

Hi Sara. Welcome to the forum. So sorry for your loss. Guess what? I live in Riverside also. I am in between Pedley and Rubidoux off of Limonite. Perhaps we can meet up someday.

Welcome to the forum Sara,

ok Zaps were explained, Auctions here at DPF are via pins instead of cash, please read this thread for rules on auctions.

Pin games are individual games set up to win pin prizes, since by law if you dont recieve something its considered gambling, we use the raffle system, cash is sent to members hosting the games, and then ususally<sometimes it varies by host> numbers are drawn to see whom picks from the prize stash first, and so on.

If you have any other questions please feel free to PM myself or any other staff member, we are here to help!!!

Now enjoy the wild and wooly world of pins, Im sure your aunt is looking down and smiling, as well as a small chuckle as she knows what you have gotten into!!!

Welcome to the world of pins!!!!

Hello and welcome! It is wonderful that you have such a great way to remember and honor your aunt through her pins.
