New to DisneyPinForum
Hello Everyone, My name is Ryan and this is my first post. I have been trading and collecting pins for over a year. I collect Hidden Mickeys and a few characters that my 2 year old daughter likes. I have noticed that a small percentage of our pins overall are scrapper/fakes. It is discouraging but I keep plugging along trying to weed them out.
I have noticed that when trading with people at the tables at Epcot they seem to have an overwhelming amount of the hidden mickeys I need to complete sets. I cant figure out how they amass such collections of newer hidden mickeys when it seems they are camped out at tables all day. (Once saw a guy pull out a fishing tackle box, with every silver completer in a compartment and a dozen duplicates of each.) One of the main problems I have is they wont trade unless you purchase new pins from inside. If I am to purchase pins I would want to keep them. I do not feel it is worth $5.95-$19.95 for a HM that they have 10-20 of. It is a real bummer when they encourage you to look through all their books knowing all along that they do not plan on trading for any pin on my lanyard.
I wear a lanyard with pins that I do not mind trading to anyone at anytime. If an adult or child looks at my pins I will stop and gladly trade even if they are trading me a pin I already have. I hope others can begin to do this and take some of the negative connotations of being a pin trader away.
