Hi, my name is Michael, long time collector of swords and movie replicas. I've decided to give Disney pin collecting a try. Any advice on where to start will help.

Welcome to the forum. There are plenty of helpful guides and lots of friendly people here who can help. A good first step might be to get a Pinpics account, which will help you keep track of your pins and allow those of us who might like to trade with you see what you've got. Good luck!

Welcome to DPF! This is a wonderful place to start! :) People are kind and knowledgeable and seem willing to help whenever possible! It is an outstanding community and full of info for you!!!! And you will be addicted to pins in no time!!! Have fun! :D

Welcome. First step is to acquire some pins. Disneyland of course has many fun pins to start with. Ask around to see what is popular. In order to trade, you will have to add a variety to your trade book so you will draw more people. Have fun!

WElcome to the Forum. I would suggest starting with pins that you like to start the collection along with getting a variety of pins for traders. The more varied your traders the more people you may have interested in trades. Good luck, as you start out; I am just starting the trading aspect myself even though I have been collecting pins on every Disney vacation since the early '90s.

Hello! Along with starting a focused collection, I've found trading to get pins I like leaves everyone happy and with pins they like more! I know when I started, all my pins were "keepers" and it was tough to figure out what to let go of. I had my start getting pins to trade on the "pin games" forum - you get a chance to cultivate a side collection of pins that are great to trade with people, are semi random (fun!), you might win big, and you might also start collecting something you never thought you'd collect :)
