Newbie Attending Trading Events

Question...I am still in the getting educated phase and I tend to be a bit of an over researcher. I was planning to attend some pin trading events in the hopes of learning and meeting people however I am not ready to trade at events yet. Would it seem weird that I was there without pins to trade? Would people get mad at me or is this common?

I think it would be a good idea to have a few basic, inexpensive pins with you, just in case. Stuff you're not attached to or worried about the value. And if you start feeling comfortable, you can use those to test the waters.

It's not strange at all I think to go without pins to trade. My friend recently got into pin trading, but she had nothing to trade. We picked up a few mystery hidden mickey pins beforehand for her to just test how she felt about making offers or being declined. She bought some pins she really wanted and got a good feel about what kind of pins people were looking for, and what different traders were like in terms of being accommodating or not. She watched me make a lot of different kinds of trades, and saw me politely walk away from others. She feels MUCH better prepared and excited for the next trade event after getting to do one that was low stakes. I think if you want to research and explore an event no one is going to get mad at you for not having pins (though beware some people will be VERY eager to sell you pins for the highest cash price they think they can get.)

Take some pins with you and ask questions. Most people are willing to work with you to learn.

You're going to see a TON of pins you like and then either wind up buying them or buying pins to trade for them. So...
