I just joined and am completely new to forums and pin collections. Welcome all helpful tips!
Is there a reference book or site that ya'll use to identify your pins? I see numbers and letters attached to pin pics and wonder where they come from.
Thanks

Ninpin:
I have a total mish-mash. Various Figments, Dangles, Jumbos, Lock Hidden Mickey series, Aladdian, Little Mermaid, Fantasia, Aristocats, Eeyore, Star Wars, Nightmare Before Christmas, etc. I'm working on narrowing down things. As I look through the PinPics.com catalogue I find more styles that I love and want to add to my list! So as a total newbie I look for advice...how do you narrow down your collection? I have purchased a couple of the large EBay lots (25-50) pins and hope with them I will identify pieces that I adore.
Figment remains my all time favorite since my first WDW visit in 1992.

Sorapandora:
I have spent some happy hours so far looking through Pin Pics identifying my pins. So much fun to see all the different types out there. Narrowing my collecting goals down is difficult. Figment is still my number one. But I'm also really in love with pins that have dangles or movement. I bought a Mickey outline with moveable gears (I kinda think of it as Mickey Steampunk) when I visited Downtown Disney in August. I am planning a Disneyland trip for December and hope to trade some while there. I wish I could be there next week when I read that an new 8 pin 60th Anniversary set comes out!

Hello
Welcome to DPF
If you have trouble finding a specific pin you can always post an image here and I'm sure someone can help you out . I'm currently going through PinPics too to increase my wants list , some lovely looking Figment pins around .
If you check the sales thread the amazing Speezard offers close to cost pickups from DLR although I think he has quite a full list for the 60th puzzle pieces he may still be able to add you :)

Welcome! I know my avatar says I'm a senior member, but I am still a newbie pin trader myself! :)

A couple of threads that have been super fun and helpful for me are:

1) the Pin Comparison forum (excellent tips on spotting fake pins and the difference between scrappers and counterfeits)
2) the PTD discussion thread stickied to the top of the Pin discussion forum
3) the Pin Showroom and Mail Days/Latest Acquisition (so much fun to see how others enjoy their treasures!)

I agree it's tough to narrow down what to collect. It sounds like you have a couple of fun collections started- Good luck and happy trading!

Speedwaystar1:
Thanks for the information about Speezard. I will try to get on that list. My daughter lives in LA and is going to the park on Thursday....she's going to check to see if the puzzle is still available for me. I'm having a tough time with my image posting....still figuring out how to do it, but will keep going and hope to have a wish list up by Christmas!
PS your dog looks like a Beagle maybe? Enjoying a snooze on a comfy bed. I have a Beagle named Bob.

Thanks McMorgan and thanks for joining my Texas group. Love Austin- great town.
The PTD thread has been most helpful- esp when I figured out that the newest posts are actually on the last pages. Oh boy am I embarrassed.
Will have to check out the Pin Showroom. Thanks for the tip.

First, aloha and welcome.

Second, about those signatures you've been admiring ... several of our members make them. If you asked nicely, I'm certain that someone would be more than happy to create one for you (you'll just need to know the PinPics numbers of the pins you want included on said signature).

Dancecats:
a lovely UK member, Speedwaystar1, has designed a signature for me. I'm working on my album of pins I have that are available as traders. What kind of information should I include, other than pin number, picture of front and back?
