About to buy a few pins on eBay for my thumper collection. They look real and the sellers have good feedback. Is it safe?

Keep in mind that the people giving the feedback could be unaware that there are fakes, and if they were to receive one they might think it to be real and post positive feedback for the seller still.

Long story short: It's always a gamble with ebay. It's never really "safe", so it's up to your discretion. :dunno:

It's so ridiculous people make and sell scrappers. Isn't it copyright infringement and laundering fake product? If so, it's a felony, yet it happens. Urg :(

I'm having a hard time with this too. Since it is one of the few options available to me, I have made a few purchases. I have stuck to single pins, no lots, good feedback, stuff that comes in its packaging and I still got burned once! So frustrating!

One thing to do is to look at what else they are selling. A guy living nowhere near WDW yet has a bunch of WDW hidden Mickeys would raise some flags. I would also pretty much avoid anyone that is also selling those huge lots of pins for ridiculously low prices.

Living in the UK and haing not been to WDW for many years, I used to rely on eBay for pins a lot, back in the good old days when there weren't unscrupulous people dealing in fakes and scrappers. Now even the few sellers I do risk buying from are still (some of them) selling scrappers.

One experienced seller, with lots of good feedback (including from me), is selling pins , some of which I bought and then found them all to be scrappers. When challenged she said "they're not fake, if they have the logo on the back" which astounded me somewhat. She is also selling pin no 80814 as a real Disney pin. So some of them are just clueless, others are ruthless.

So personally, as others have mentioned, I now stick to people who live close to WDW or the like and have the pins in the orginal packaging. Otherwise it was just depressing and taking away from the enjoyment of the pins!

Ebay is tempting, I know, but be very careful as a lot of sellers use catalogue images and that can't be trusted either!
