Hello,
If you are buying a pin using pay pal what is better to mark a purchase as: Gift or paying for goods.
Can you still get a refund if you mark something as a Gift?
Thanks for your help
ClaudWin

If you pay as gift you cannot get a refund. Also, if you pay as gift you can only use your bank account or your paypal balance or you the buyer has to pay the fee.

As mark said, you can only get a refund if you use Goods. However, if you pay for Goods, the buyer loses some of the money to Paypal fees so if you do Goods, generally you have to add a bit more so that the buyer doesn't get less than was expected (I've had buyers who refuse to send the pin until they get their last $1.50 -__-) so I really would use Goods MOST of the time (especially on large transactions) unless you really trust the seller (because you know them or they have really good feedback).

Just FYI: from outside the U.S. there is also a fee for paying as gift from a bank account, but it is far lower than using a credit card.

ClaudWin: If you are in the UK and the seller is in the US, you can pay with goods as long as you understand and are willing to pay the extra cost for trackable shipping (it's $20-30 for trackable shipping to the UK)

I believe there is now an option also to pay as goods and have the buyer pay the fee also. So it's like gifting it that the seller gets the whole dollar amount but the buyer pays the extra. Honesty everyone should stop being greedy and either ask for 3% more in the asking price or just live with the cost of doing business via paypal. While we're at it, the seller is responsible for the pin until it arrives. If you are also too cheap to pay for insurance then factor that into the price as well or prepare to lose some money on a high value pin!
