So I'm heading to camp next weekend and will be spending the night in NYC before heading north. Has anyone been to the Disney Store there recently? Any ideas what the pin selection is like? Should I bother to unpack any traders before visiting? Any help much appreciated 🙂
 
The store is renovating (at least they were 3 weeks ago when I visited) and they didn't have any pins on display. It took asking a couple people before one was able to find a few in the back for me. I know they have the fab 5 and I got a tink and stitch, but there's no trading there.

They aren't anything too special, but I picked up one stitch and tink for traders. If you search pinpics for nyc pins you can get a better feel for what they have 🙂
 
What do you consider 'recent'? I last visited the NY Disney Store in mid-December of last year (do you consider that recent?). I wouldn't bother unpacking any traders unless your visit happens to coincide with a pin trading event as (when I was there, anyway) the CMs did NOT wear lanyards (or even have them behind the counters). I have no idea what the pin selection will be like when you go and I can't even take a guess. I was told that pins are limited and can vary, depending upon shipment. When I was there, the store didn't have a single pin in stock (but the store might have just received a shipment when you go, you never know).

Maybe someone who lives closer to or in NYC and visits the store more frequently can give you more current information about the store's pin status. Alternately, perhaps you could phone the Disney Store and just ask the CM these questions and see what he/she says.

In any case, have a safe trip, a wonderful time in NYC, and fun in camp. 🙂
 
As of two weeks ago the bottom level of the store was closed for renovation. If you took the escalator to the second floor most of the merchandise was moved there, but a CM said that this was also going to be closed for a "few days" for renovation. I wouldn't bother taking a pins for Trade to the NYC store at this time.

I was just there the weekend of May 14 and only the 2nd floor was opened. They did have the whole store closed for a few days after that but the 1st and 2nd floors reopened last Friday on the 27th. They did have several Tink NYC pins, I Heart (mickey icon) New York several different styles, Mickey and Minnie in a taxi cab, stitch pins, times square pin, a set of fab 5 with apples, central park pin set and Minnie as statue of liberty. Also at Yankee stadium they had Disney MLB pins too.
 
thanks for all the replies guys, at least now I know not to get my hopes up too high!! I'm still looking forwards to visiting the store, it has to be better than the one at Lakeside here in the UK!!
