** PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO POST #6 ** THANKS FOR PLAYING

As I posted earlier, on a whim and due to bad weather on Monterey Peninsula during our spring break get-away, last Sunday we decided to go to SF and visit Walt Disney Family Museum.

I picked few items from there thinking I could maybe do a small contest. Nothing fancy, but I wanted to share it with you. Also, this little contest can teach us a bit more about Disney trivia.

Simple Rules:

1. Contest is open to every DPF member (minus me of course) who has at least 10 fb regardless of location.

2. I will ask 3 questions regarding the stuff I learnt while in the museum. You can enter your answers until 03/21 noon CT. Only one entry per DPF member please. More than 1 entry will be disqualified. Feel free to use any source you want to get the answers (other than me please).

3. And then if and when I can figure out how to do a random drawing, I will hopefully post the winner here.

4. The winner then will have 24 hrs to PM me their mailing info.

Here are the items:

A brochure from the museum, one key chain and a postcard showing Walt and wife Lillian. Nothing fancy & if you do not like it feel free to use it for PIFs and such.

Here are the questions:

1. What special Oscar was given to Walt in 1938 and for which movie?

2. When was WDI founded and what was it called before WDI?

3. Who is the person who stayed up all night with Walt to draw the initial plans for Disneyland?

Hope you'll have fun playing this & best of luck :)

Disclaimer: I am not doing this because anybody asked me to, paid me for it, or promised any other gainful return. I came up with this idea while browsing in the museum store. Why ?? Fun of course.

What a fun idea! :) pm sent, though the 3rd question has me stumped!  Thanks so much for the fun contest and glad you enjoyed the Disney Museum!! :)

Huh, I never said that you should have all the answers right.

I will update my first posting shortly and make this a wee bit DPF friendly ;) Thank you to everyone who played so far.

Ok, I can get a message. Ths was not the most exciting thing on DPF

4 friends submitted answers and I want to thank them for being super sports:

dawny, creativextremities, Story and Remus_Lupin91 - THANKS for playing :)

Here are the answers:

1. A special Oscar statuette was awarded to Walt Disney in 1938 by Shirley Temple for 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' that shows an Oscar figure accompanied by seven 'dwarf' Oscar figures.

Walt also receved the oscar for Best Short Subjct - Cartoons with "The Old Mill" in 1938. Snow White was also nominated for Oscar in 1937 for Best Score, but did not get the award.

2. WDI was founded in 1952 and was originally called WED Enterprises.
Walter Elias Disney - got it?

3. Herb Ryman (According to what I read in the museum, Herb did not want to do it, but Walt asked him "If I were to stay in the room with you all night, would you do it then?")

And the Winner is .... drum roll please ....

Story !!

Please send me your mailing info so I can send you the modest prize

Thank you for looking & Playing.

Drawing: I used the random number generator from random.org and assigned everyone the order they submitted their numbers in: dawny #1, creativextremities #2, Sory #3 and Remus_Lupin91 #4
The True Number Generator on that site gave me "3"

congrats! Sorry I was too lazy to enter the contest (but I did at least know the answer to the first question!).

Thanks so much everyone! I was so excited that Merryweather had included an especially sweet zap along with the prize that I forgot to post it here too! :)
