My daughter has the Belle and Rapunzel Animators' collection dolls and she plays with them allllll the time. Unfortunately Rapunzel's hair has become quite tangled (no pun intended). Any tips for getting the tangles out? I thought I saw something about fabric softener on Pinterest, but IDK if that would work on the plastic-y hair these dolls have. I thought I would ask the doll experts.

I have detangled a lot of my little ponies tails but I dont know if it will work on these dolls. Anyway, I just wet it a lot and then poor A LOT of regular hair conditioner in it. Comb it through all the way and when its ok you just rince it and let it dry. It works perfect on old My little Ponys but it did not work on a cheap barbie doll we tried it on so...

As someone who works with wigs often and has had to detangled synthetic hair on way too many occassions, my go-to product is called Motions Oil Sheen and Conditioning Spray. Spray a little on the doll's hair (really: a little goes a long way!) and use a wide tooth comb starting at the bottom and working your way up. If you start at the top and try to pull down, you will rip hair out of the doll.

You can get this stuff at Sally Beauty, online or any other big beauty shop for $5-$6... And it'll last you awhile. :) Good luck!

As an adult who was unable to keep her Animator Punzel's hair untangled either (only doll I have ever regretted deboxing), diluting fabric softener with water and soaking the doll's hair in it for about 15 minutes made it easier to detangle, but it was still a lot of work. And if her hair is really bad you may have to work in stages- soak, detangle what you can, soak again when it gets harder to comb through. Make sure you pick a good smelling or unscented fabric softener, because the smell will linger.

I also have done the fabric softener trick. I fill up a basin of warm water and then pour a bit of fabric softener in to the tub (not too much). Then I lather some of it into the doll's hair once it is submerged. I use a small comb to start detangling the hair. I usually start from the bottom of the hair and gently work my way up to the top. Then I do a light rinse in warm water and comb, and then let the doll dry completely on a towel. Make sure the doll is dry both inside and out before storing it in a dark place. Don't want any mold to grow!

I have a video tutorial I can send to you that I made of this process, if you would like! Its a bit long but hey it sort of works lol!

I love to re-stlye some of my Princesses' hair or go to Savers and buy older Princesses for cheap and fix them up. So I do this all the time. I brush out the knots first. Then run the hair under hot water (sometimes I boil water and dip their hair in that too.) for a few minutes and brush it. Then I add some conditioner, run it under hot water again, and brush the hair again. It has worked perfectly for me every time.

I use a small spray bottle with water mixed with a teensy bit of ordinary hair conditioner. Spray a little all over and use a metal toothed brush or comb - wig combs are recommended but I use a rabbit fur one! - to comb it out. Works perfectly!
