i dont collect that type of pin but as for auction, do you mean ebay? if so you could always put a reserve price or start the bidding at what you must have for it.

I'm thinking about doing an auction too, because they look like such fun. They're clearly a gamble; you might not get bids of things you want. But I think people here are pretty fair; even if what they bid isn't what you want, they won't make horrible lowball bids. Seems like the worst is you have a new trader.

It does seem like a lot of people don't collect pins with writing on (myself included). Goofy_Moe posted some helpful tips for good auctions a while back; maybe I can find the thread again.
