I would trade for a pin that was altered if it were disclosed to me and if it was just going into my collection. I personally do not like dated pins.
I have two thoughts on it. Personally, I do not like dates on pins - so for me, I would put one in my collection. However, I do feel that it would make the pin less valuable, because technically, it is damaged.I'm more of a purist. It's not something I would do or allow is my collection. However, I guess the people that do it the more rare they will make the original pin.
Just a clarification: my reference about the damaged pins making the original pin rare; in other words, the “undamaged” pin would become more rare.I have two thoughts on it. I don't think it becomes a rare pin - just altered and maybe not as sought after by people who want an undamaged pin.
Agreed. Keepers you can do what you want with but they pretty much turn into fantasy pins once you alter them.Put me in the unaltered camp for my collection. But certainly people are free to do what they wish with their keepers.
Oh, yes, that would be true! LOL I read it backwards. HAHAJust a clarification: my reference about the damaged pins making the original pin rare; in other words, the “undamaged” pin would become more rare.
