We've now traded 4 different people for 2 of the Unbirthday pins and have received fakes every single time. The first thing traders should know is that these pins are VERY TOUGH to get. Some sites have these as 3rd series when they were actually a half year series. So, they technically are the Disneyland 2.5 Series, not the series 3 many have them listed as. The Kites and Princess Autographs were the other 2 sets released as this 2.5 series. If you look on PP, you'll notice their are only a hand full of people trading these pins but well over 100 people wanting. This alone should show you how tough these pins are to aquire. The tell tale sign on the scrappers is the "Disney's Cast Lanyard Series" on the back of the pin. On the Scrappers, every single one of them is spelled "Disney,s Cast Lanyard Series" Notice the comma instead of an apostrophe as it is supposed to be. Also, on the scrappers, the back of the pin is more silver than gold. These old Cast Lanyard Pins had dark gold backs. The scrappers are light gold, or in some instances even silver with a gold hue. Another thing to consider, when Disney released these pins, they actually cared about quality control. So, if you have one of these pins and they have dips in the paint, you can almost guarantee they are fake. We have the entire cast lanyard series now and none of them have dips in the paint or brush strokes or any imperfections. Especially these early series, they are as smooth as glass.

Just somethings to consider before agreeing to a trade should you happen to have one of these Unbirthday Pins. It's very frustrating when you trade out DA Pins, DSF BT'S, WDW CM'S, etc... only to receive these scrapper pins in return. From our understanding, these pins are showing up more and more in the parks. Believe me, Disney has not re-released these pins or any pin for that matter. As mentioned, if it looks to good to be true, it probably is.

I've never once found one of those on a lanyard in the year I've been collecting heavily now. I've seen the kites a billion times. I don't think I've ever seen the princess signatures, real or fake. Thanks for the heads up.

I have all this series pins & they are all original! They took a heck of a lot of getting/trading/buying/begging!! The scrappers came about a while after I completed the set & they are appearing more frequently on lanyards - thinner, li9ghter & as you've mentioned color problems!!

I must say I know how hard it is to get these so congrats on completing the set!!

I really wanted this set but took off my wants list because all I have seen is fakes. It is such a cute set too.

I agree it's a gorgeous set... The only one I've seen surface is the Minnie one but even the fakes to me are pretty rare..

I'm very thankful I was able to put together soon after it came out so I know they are authentic- Wish I wouldve done the princess set as well but oh well...
