So what was your first foray into trading? Lots of people ask what your first pin was. How about when you took the next step into the community?

My first time pin trading was at Animal Kingdom in April 2011.
My first LE pins were from the Sci-Fi Academy at DLR in June 2011
My first DSF release was for the Rocketeer Marquee in August 2011
My first PTN was at DLR on 2/17/12, I only traded with Tigernut. I traded a Carl PTD for a Disney Shopping Tinker/Peter Pan topiary and a Tinker Bell cast pin.

I had to go to pinpics and look up dates but I remember certain events based on the pins I got that day.

My first pin trade was on August 27, 2012 at Hollywood Studios
I have no idea when i got my first LE pin
I have never been to a DSF release however I went to DSF at the beginning of the month to check it out
I traded in person with someone other than a cast member for the first time on my trip to DLR at the beginiing of this month
I will attend my first trading event this weekend at CJDPT Trade till you fade - I can't wait!
I will attend my first Disney trading event in September at Reflections of Evil - I can't wait!

Great idea for a thread!!
First time pin trading was at the barrels in Frontierland, back in the summer of 2011.
First LE pin I ever bought was Snow White PODM. Bought it in the Disneyland hotel while we were staying there.
My first DSF release was the Lion King release from 2011, which got me hooked on Lion King pins!
My first PTN that I attended was last year in the spring I believe

My first time pin trading was at the Tables in Downtown Disney at DLR
MY first LE pin was Pin 61476: DSF - Pirates of the Caribbean Movie Trilogy - Stitch with Jar of Dirt
MY first DSF release was the First set of the Beloved Tales or the Bolt pins
My first PTN was probably in 2008

Well, I'm still new so this may not be too terribly exciting

My 1st time pin trading was this past December at WDW from cast lanyards and pin boards... My 1st out of park trade was
with a forum member for the DMR New Fantasyland pin (Thanks ElysionsPrincess! )

My 1st LE pins were the New Fantasyland pins... I was vacationing during the December release of them, boy was that
insane!

My 1st DSF pins were the recent Peter Pan ones... Marisa picked up the Marquee and 2 of the Vault pins for me That
was my 1st Marquee!

I haven't been to a PTN yet, but I will be at the Reflections of Evil in September and I'm SUPER excited, and slightly
terrified

My first time pin trading was at MyDPins in February 2012.
My first LE pins were the DSF Hollywood Star Stitch, Surprise Hollywood Cheshire Cat and Carl PTD.
My first DSF release was for the Hollywood Star set in February 2012.
My first PTN was at DLR on April 2012 (I am not sure about this).

The first time I bought pins was at WDW in 2008.
My first time pin trading was at WDW in 2009 (with cast members).
My first LE pins were from DSF in 2009... Robin Hood BT, Russell and Dug, and Carl.
I've never been to a PTN or PTE... My first and only trading event was in a cafe Japan in 2012.
My first online trade was in 2011

my boyfriend and i started trading in early October of 2010, not long after starting dating. We each had a handful of pins we had bought over the few years prior of going to parks, and we had just started going to Disneyland because we both shared a love of the park. We bought a lanyard and started trading with CMs, and by the end of the weekend, discovered that we now had a lanyard full of fake vinylmation pins. That's where our journey into pins started, and we immediately began educating ourselves on pins, scrappers, fakes, etc.

my first LE pins were the WDI Monster's Inc Sock Monster and Mailbox Monster, someone at the park traded them to me, and i remember being SOOO excited about LE pins. i still have those pins, and not for a lack of trying to trade them, lol!

our first DSF event was shortly thereafter, at the end of Oct 2010, for the NBC Playing Cards. we drove up the night before at around 10pm, right after celebrating his parents' 50th anniversary, and were able to still be within the first 150 in line. (i REALLY miss those days.) we made new friends and learned more and more about pins. i even won a drawing the next morning after the release and won the DSF glow in the dark Sally with dangle arms!! (still looking for the Jack that goes with her, anyone?)

first PTN was probably sometime in early 2011, don't remember which date, i just remember that the PTNs used to really stress me out because there were so many people, and i could never seem to make any trades, maybe one or two. Since then, we've gone to a few PTNs, most of Josh's trading events at My-D Pins, and back in 2011 and early 2012, would go the parks on the weekend and trade.

we still stay on the fringes of the community and trade/participate when we can, but it's not the same as it used to be. we still love seeing everyone at the park or at Josh's whenever we have time to go!

First time purchasing pins was in March of 2000

First time pin trading was I believe in June 2006.
I never paid attention to LE pins until DPF, so I can't tell you what my first LE pin was.
First pin release was in DTD at WDW in March 2013 for the Princess carousel pins.
First PTN was November 2, 2012 at WDW.

This was interesting to read. Nice thread idea!

First trade was back in 2002
First LE pins were park villains from an event held
DSF.. Probably most memorable was the Hitckhiking ghost pins.. you know the know the ones
Cant remember the first ptn. Probably back in 2003-2004.

I've never pin traded in person, kinda difficult living in the uk lol!
My first limited edition pins were Pin 86647: Disney Store Europe - Cars 2 (Francesco Bernoulli and Lightning McQueen) bought on 16th September 2011.
ive never been to any ptes or ptns....yet!!!

First Disney pins - September 1999 at the Disney Store for the start of the Millennium pin series - I went because a friend of mine worked on Saturdays and couldn't go...so I picked up a few sets for me and a few for her every Saturday morning

First DLR PTN - last August where I met up with Chalon to help her navigate the crowds and introduce her to the DPF members I knew at the time...

My first in-park trading was the week of DL's birthday, July 2000. First, LE's would have been gotten the same time.

First PTN: I don't remember exact dates, but one of my trips to DL when we lived in AZ had a pin trading night. So somewhere between Nov 2003-Mar 2006. Didn't trade with anyone though, too shy, and didn't have good pins. Just sort of walked around the room, and there was a preview board, I think.

First paid Disney Event: Spectacle of Pins 2005. I helped my parents move all their stuff into storage while they waited for their house to sell. And the dates worked out to stay around for the event. I have to say, I was not impressed. Ugly room, long lines, hot. And for the food & beverage portion, someone decided it was okay to only have coffee or tea, not even water! Eventually, people showed up with water but there still seemed to be a, "What do you mean, people don't drink coffee?" vibe to it. Even though there were a lot of kids there. But the pins were nice.

Only DSF release: The day Disneyland got a star on the Walk of Fame. It just turned out we were going up to Burbank/WDI that day, so we went to DSF, but not for the ceremony. This was pre-marquees by about a month, and pre-pin trader's delights so I had a sundae in a Herbie: Fully Loaded bowl. I got [pinpics]39965[/pinpics]
