in full transparency, it currently costs roughly ≈$3,000/year (and rising, due to rising server costs year over year) to keep the site running, which, since inception in 2009-2010 have come out of my pocket (though it was much cheaper back then, and we had run GoFundMe's and a few donation drives before, but have not made it a yearly thing, but it probably will be doing forward).

If we can raise enough to keep the site running with minimal out-of-pocket expense, that's all I really want for the forum.

I'm not seeking to really monetize it — we've never run ads (but never say never, i suppose), and it's always been free for everyone — and i'd like to keep it that way.

If any significant amount of excess is raised, it will go back into giveaways for our members, and working on forum merchandise that we can offer for sale to further support the site

That said, a little update — to date, minus the paypal fees, we've raised about $1300 — so we are off to a great start! Thank you all!
 
I got my package, thank you! I wasn’t expecting both a metal tag and a name charm, so that was a fun surprise! (And good call on purple, my favorite color! 🙂 )
