Traveling pin collection cases

Earlier this week I had to make a decision as to how to transport my pin collection out of the house as Hurricane Irene was approaching. I had them displayed on cork boards in my office and now I realize this is not the best method. It is amazing how heavy the pins are when they are all in ziplock bags. Unfortunately for me, I had to leave my collection at home and pray for the best.

While at Disney World, I purchased a pin trading bag, but the sides of the pages are not split and putting pins on the pages is quite difficult.

I am sure there are members of this forum that have some ideas, hence the reason for this post.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Binders with pages of baseball card holders work well to bring pins with you.

I use jewlary bags to display some of my nicer pins. They are the big hanging bags. I typed into google to find this image and what you look for in google is jewelry bags for travel. I have a bunch of these in various sizes that I use when I want to bring select pins to trade at the parks.

I also use the baseball card holders to put my nice pins that I am willing to trade in a binder and place it in my pin book since it has a zipper compartment behind the zipper section of the pages of pins.

I'm not sure I could save everything in my house and that's why I don't evacuate. When we had Wilma, I just stayed and dealt with the aftermath. My ceiling in the kitchen fell in and there were leaks everywhere, but we had covered everything in plastic so none of my antiques got wet. I guess if I had to leave, I'd take my pin bags (all 32 of them) and hope for the best. I don't know. That's a scary thing. We have art, antiques, Disney, books - guess I'd have to hire a moving company

Thanks for your suggestions. I heard from one of my neighbors and with them looking out of the window, it appears that the only thing that happened sor far is a dead pine tree fell towards the golf course and not towards our house

I know the pins are really valuable and some have sentimental value as well, but I would rather hear that all of my east coast friends are safe rather than in danger trying to protect their pins and other valuables. I believe this community can help rebuild any pin collection lost if we all join together. Please stay safe east coasters!!
