I'm at the point that I want pins that require trading. Any tips to build a great trader collection?
 
I was always told you buy pins that you may not want or interest you and trade those. Like Tinkerbell is really good to trade with or maybe some disney princesses.
 
it's easier to buy pins you want than to trade for them.

It's hard to predict what might be the "next big thing."

Thanks for the advice. I'm asking because the DSF pin release is coming for the eggs and Jessica and Brave bears are being release so I don't know if I should pick some extra ones to sell or to trade or none at all.
 
How do you build good traders? You pick up what you can when you can at affordable prices of pins/characters that are popular. How do you build great traders? Pure luck, lol. No one knows right now what will become a great trader, so you can take your chances on new releases and hope they work out, but still, it's safer to stick with certain characters.....for example, Ariel, Belle, Rapunzel, Tink, etc. that tend to have higher demands, preferably if the pin is a limited release.

If it was me and I was there already, I would be sure to pick up extra pins!
 
Agreed; I'd definitely pick up the extra ones. There are sure to be people looking for them after their release. I still haven't personally figured out a good way to get my hands on one of the Brave eggs.
 
One way I built traders was to buy lots of pins that contained one or two of pins I liked and so I could trade the others away. You can also look for pins at unusual locations, such as antique stores and such. I also recommend picking up pins that you dont always see in other people's books.

Trade auctions can be very helpful if you have a really good pin that you don't consider a grail and your willing to give it up.
 
I would definitely pick up extra at the soda fountain. Lots of people want those and it is the only place to get them plus they are a low edition pin. If you can make to the soda fountain often I would get pins there to trade. I would also check the sales here. Sometimes there are some pretty good sales. I would also say to get PODM's. They trade well and are good for auctions to both get pins and bid on things with. Lastly I would try games that are you pick them. Your chances are better if you see the pins ahead of time and there are quite a few that you would want to have. If nothing else.... ask around.... cash always works around here... LOL

Sorry fluffy for not getting back to you in chat ^_^ As for that, it really depends. If you buy a pin and then turn right around immediately and sell it for a higher price, from what I understand, yeah, that is usually frowned upon if you do that, at least directly on DPF. If you bought a pin on Ebay and then sold it higher on Ebay I don't think I've seen as many problems. I know sometimes you want to do it, but from what I find, generally one shouldn't :(
 
If you want to buy some pins to use as traders, I can do some personal shopping for you at my friends shop, my d pins. They sell tons of pins for fair prices. Princess pins, auction pins, villains, Jessica, etc. From recent releases back to pins 10+ years ago.

My D pins is a great place to get started on good traders. More than enough trade-able pins, and most of them are the high demand pins like ariel, belle, and if you're lucky you'll run into Tangled pins that haven't been bought yet. Best advice for getting great traders is Luck and a bit of cash tbh. Having saved searches on Disney Auction pins has been one of the biggest helps for great traders. Can't go wrong with Disney Auction pins in your traders
