so what kind of time frame are we talking about....over years it will damage or months? :/

I don't think you can say with certainty when or if any of the above will cause damage, because there are too many variables...climate, how you store them, air circulation, just dumb luck, etc. etc.
 
FML im planning on being dead before my pins go in the crapper.

i touch "play" with my pins all the time. I bite them, lick them, wash them with acid...the dog sits on them (ok that ones true) sometimes i use them as darts. HEY WHO WANTS TO TRADE?! LMAO
 
I won't mention any names but I know a trader whose cat peed on one of his favourite collections, and I think he used washing up liquid to clean them and if they survived that I'm sure some non acid-free backers will be fine! ;)
 
I have some pins that are on its card for 9 years now, bought myself in Paris, and they are perfectly fine (?)

The ones that are not fine, are the ones on my Lion King lanyard.
Was always in storage, and all pins are now very badly bend :(
