Announcement GoFundMe started for DPF 2.0 Forum upgrade
6/9 Update:

GoFundMe - $207
Paypal - $368
------------------
$575!

Woohoo!

I haven't had a chance to send my donation yet, been busy, but will get on that within the next week!

after-weekend update:

GoFundMe - $207
PayPal - $418
--------------------
$625! just about halfway there!

This is nearly enough for the forum software, so once we hit that goal, I can go ahead and purchase the new license, so we have that out of the way, and can start planning on porting over the content to the new software, which could take a while.

From there, we can continue to raise money for the forum additions that people think will work well with our community.

Update:

$227 - GoFundMe
$468 - PayPal
--------------------
$692!

in the interest of transparency with the fundraising, and as an update, I needed to use $175 to pay last month's hosting bill (via the paypal donations), so an updated running total follows (including @caw caw rawr's recent donation above):

$206 gofundme ($227 minus fees)
$213 PayPal ($488, less $175 hosting)
------------------
$519

no progress over the weekend, but we're about halfway there still — bit of a setback having to use some toward the hosting for the month, but we're almost there for the forum software license, at least!

Thank you all for the recent donations; Here's another update:

$254 - GoFundMe ($277, less fees)
$438 - Paypal ($613, less $175 hosting)
--------------
$692!

The new round of pop-up ads reminded me that we need an upgrade, so I'm bumping this thread. Don't worry if you can't send much - if enough users sent just $5 each, I think we'd easily raise the money that Cicada needs to update this wonderful forum!

Hi all, I've been out of town recently, but some new donations have come in — Thank you all for the recent donations; Here's another update:

$254 - GoFundMe
$458 - Paypal
--------------
$712!

I think I can go ahead and purchase the forum license for the new software, and then see where we're at, and what else we'll need to bring the forum up to its current functionality. Right now the hosting fees are killing me, but I think having a more secure forum (i see that popups have come back), and one that functions well, is the priority for the community, so I will go ahead and get the first half of this upgrade rolling this week sometime.

I've been advertising it on Facebook too, through the Pin Trading Database page. So, hopefully, every little bit helps.

I see that PinPics has a sponsorship drive, maybe we can do something like that?

details on how that works?

details on how that works?

Right now, they are seeking gold sponsors (up to 100) for $225 each and with it, they get two LE300 pins and purchasing rights to five LE100 pins (that they are making)

They also have silver sponsorships available (unsure of price) - up to 200 - and they get two LE300 pins.
