Hello fellow pin traders!

I just got into pin trading this past summer and recently returned from another WDW trip and had a blast!

I'm curious on how to get more involved and connected to pin trading while living so far away.......any suggestions?

How does everyone here decide what pins they really want to get? I see grail pictures other members have made on here as well, and I never knew some of the pins existed! Do you do a lot of research online to determine what you are trying to find? What are some good resources/tips for amateurs who want to take it to the next level?

I have a pretty decent collection and I always just trade/buy what I like, but would like to discover more then then stock pins that are currently out there.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as I spend a lot of time on pin sites on facebook, etc. and I really, really love pin trading and collecting!!

Have a great day! :)

Hey welcome :) Most go for a theme or favourite character quite a few have lots of different collections. As for deciding on grail pins it's usually what we would like the most. Some of them if not most have a high want ratio. I use Disney pin place to add wants, trades and my collection its also good for finding new pins.

So what do you have in your collection??

I have a lot of different Mickey's and I love Frozen (so does everyone else, lol!) Brave, Up, Nemo, Wall-E, Phineas and Ferb along with Perry, Duffy the bear, some of the new hidden mickey's (the goofy one in particular), and I really like finding pins that represent the different parks (such as Animal Kingdom, WDL, WDW, Epcot, etc.)

I essentially have a ton of pins, but no specific theme to them:)

How do people make their grail pictures I see at the bottom of their posts?

I will try digging through the Disney pin place site to try and learn more about what is out there, as well as catalog my pins! I've been trying to figure out the best way to keep track of them all too!

Awesome, yes Frozen is very popular :P

Grail signatures are usually made with programs such as photoshop.. but there's some free programs out there too. Also members here are nice enough to make them for other users if they have time (I'm currently trying to find someone to do one for me )

Hello and welcome to the Forum. I don't live close to any of the parks either. I use disneypinplace.com as well as pinpics.com for tracking, trading and seeing some of what is out there. I also belong to several groups on Facebook that trade, buy and sell pins. Good luck with your collection!

Thank you for all of the input and warm welcomes! I look forward to learning more from everyone and continuing to trade pins! :)

I check pinpics. If you know you want to collect a certain character or movie, just type the name into the search field and see what pop ups. You usually get all kinds of pins from oldest to newest (or at least when they were put into the gallery) and wide range. You'll see which are Disney Auctions, Disney Shopping, Europe / Paris, UK, Tokyo, Hong Kong, WDW and DLR, although the gallery isn't fully updated for all Tokyo / Hong Kong / Asian pins because there aren't as many pinpics (or even DPF) members who live or frequently visit those parks. If you collect popular characters, you'll find a large range of pins, and you'll be able to pick what pins you like the best and decide if those are your "grails" or not.

Hello and welcome!

I live on the opposite end of the country from where most of the pin trading hot spots are, so I definitely know how that is, wanting to be more involved but unsure of how to do so. I mostly just keep up with the news here and look out for new Limited Editions that I may want to pre-order or trade for. I think buying popular sets from the Disney Store website and such is a good way to get worthwhile traders sometimes. If you plan to trade through mail a lot, I suggest doing multi-trades or mostly trading LEs and more expensive pins since sometimes the cost of postage can be more than a cheap trader, but that is an opinion.

When I first joined I really only had one theme interest, but over time, you kind of just "fall" for new themes/characters I think. I know I did.

For some things to do here, you might check out the Pin Games and Auctions forums to see if anything exciting interests you. Chat on the other forums, too. Everyone's very friendly.

Welcome to the community and addiction!!! :D It is not so bad not being near a park once you find this amazing group of people you have found here at DPF!!! :) Granted, it would be magical to live closer, but most of the amazing souls here make you feel like you are right there with them! :) Keep an eye on the forums and you will pretty much find any and all information you could imagine! Looking forward to seeing you around and find out find you decide to collect! Good luck!
