I started collecting last October and decided to get into trading in March, unfortunately this hasn't really worked well for me, since I live far from the parks trade nights are out of the question, I never get replies on pinpics, I don't win auctions, people i prepay for pins have never come through, always end up having to fight and wait for my money back after several days, and trading here is just hard for me since I don't own any princess, pretty pins or super low LE's. Im thinking I am better off investing money into my collection than into trading, I didn't think it was going to be this hard... blah... Done ranting... :squint:... Maybe just frustrated... Anyone feel the same?

hey, if u ever need anything fro WDW and i can get them easily(like as long as i don't have to wait more than 30 minutes to buy it like a PTN pin) i can always pick it up for you at cost... please don't become just another collector, the best part in my opinion is to trade, so just keep on working on your traders and trade for your keeper, that way you will have story behind every keepers instead of just saying, oh i got it on ebay, or i bought it, you know what i mean?
you have good traders believe me, just be patient, and keep on building up your traders little by little.

once again, i go to wdw once a month for the weekend, if u need me to pick anything up just send me a PM and if by the time i go there is available i can buy you all the ones i can for you to trade and keep if u keeping any. okay? :)
stay positive...

Aw man that sucks. There is definitely times when I feel the same :(
BTW I did come through on your Ariel PODM LOL

Sometimes I feel like pins stress me out, because I want to have all these old DA princess pins and I've barely been collecting for about 2 years and Disneystore isn't even selling pins anymore! :( I have to stay overnight at DSF to get low LEs because I don't want to feel left out and then have to trade an arm & a leg for them later.

Don't give up to easily, Hope that everything turns out well for you :)

AWWW. Please don't stop trying. I see your name all the time on bids. Maybe we are just looking for the same things I don't know. I only have three more PODM to get and then I will probably stop bidding on them because I am giving up my collection to get them. I just don't have the option of buying as our money is really tight so my only option is to bid. I know I bid really high on some of these but it is only because it is my only option. Don't give up, your time will come.

I feel your pain and I am just about at the same point as you are although I still enjoy pin trading at PTN's and meeting new people all the time so I doubt I will completely give up on trading. I've slowly cut back on traders and increased keepers. I've met some really cool people pin trading that I wouldn't have met if I only collected.

Hey, I feel your pain. I don't really have many traders as I just started pin trading/collecting in March but I did find a semi-solution to getting pins that almost counts as trading... Sell your traders and then buy your wants! Just think of it as trading value for value with a hiccup in the middle! No lie, majority of my collection has been from buying pins, but I still like trying to trade even though it's frustrating and people always want to get the better end of the deal even if something remotely fair would work, someone just keeps pushing! Ahhhhhhhhhh the stress but I do love me some pins! Just keep swimming!

I've seen a few of these threads and it just seems to be pretty normal to hit a wall where nothing is happening. If I recall, everyone who has hit the pin trading wall just mixes it up a little bit and hangs out until things pick up again.

There's been quite the influx of new traders, of late, and there's bound to be someone looking for stuff that you have and you may find stuff that they have.

I suggest taking a small break and concentrate on either building your collection or traders. Of course you could always start building your pin trading network too, as there are bound to be new people eager to trade or to pick up stuff for you. Go with the flow and try to keep it fun, is my suggestion. :)

I have felt that way a few times, seeing as how I have so few for traders. And as far as pinpics go, I have never had a response, but again, I have very few and not that great of traders to speak of; I also hear a lot of other DPF members say the same thing. :) I can also totally relate with not being able to go to the parks being in CO and definitely not being able to afford to go, and there are many other members who live good distance from any parks. I have very quickly been shown by so many of the extraordinary members of DPF, they will help you anyway they can when you are in a situation like this, including helping you build your collection without any trade involved!!!! :D I am very happy to be part of this amazing family, and I am positive you will feel the same if you give it some time. :) I have yet to do my first trade, but would never leave because of all the amazing friends I have made on this forum; the trading part will come eventually and will be worth the wait! :hsd: I do believe the above statement, that is a major part of the joy of collecting! :) So hang in there and be patient, get to know all the wonderful people here so when you are able to trade, you can call the fellow trader a friend! :)

I often feel this way and I'm in a similar slump. I've bidded on tons of auctions here and not won ONE, and a few were things I really wanted. I've been trading/collecting since late 2006. It can take a long time to develop a set of great traders. My traders still aren't 'up to snuff' for a lot of the stuff I want. It gets really frustrating, but don't lose hope! You never know, the next great trade may be waiting just around the corner. It can be a stressful thing, trying to trade for pins you really want when it seems like no one wants to trade with you, but try and take a step back and remember that it can also be really fun!

I'm in Sacramento too and I know there is going to by a pin trading event (non official) in Davis sometime in September I think.
But yeah being not too close is not easy but do-able. My wife and I go about once a month to stock up and trade pins. It's worth it. Don't get discouraged. :)

Oooh, Davis! I've been to a concert at UC Davis. It's nice up there :) confusing, took me forever to find the darn place(or was that San Jose? been to concerts both places), but nice!

Thank you all!! I feel better... I just got out of the military so maybe I'm being militant about pins and want results right away... lol... the people here are awesome and I will be around theres no doubt!

I know exactly how you feel, I gave up a few months ago because of the exact reasons you feel like leaving. It really is hard for us nor cal people because we live so far away, but then again we are closer than the people who live in texas and other states around that region. I asked myself, "How important is this to you?" and I realized that I am just going to have to invest a lot of money, I've spent WAY more money on pins in my collection than I did on my trades. Just go to every pin meet possible, dont give up. :)

Thank you , let me know when you are at the parks so I can build my traders and come back with a bang!

Thank you Clara you are awesome!! I should have said there was one exception!! I apologize... for now I'm gonna take a few steps back and see how things go, if you ever have the opportunity to get extra pins that I can use to trade later let me know

Don't ever give up!

I wont, just taking a step back!!

I believe a group of NoCal traders periodically get together to pin trade too!
I went to one in April... I met some great people, I'll definetly be at the next one since is 12 miles away!!

True, people that I met pin trading are cool!!

Thanks, my traders were once part of my collection but I decided to sacrifice a few for the betterment of my own... it be kind of hard to put a price on them... and almost all of my collection is from buying which is why I'm questioning trading...lol

Thats the plan... building up... Ive been going at this hardcore so I need to back down and build up!

Theres no doubt that people here rock!!

It is fun... but its not if you never win...lol... I'll be around!!

I'm kind of in the minority here, not that I'm saying give up, but I feel like the pin trading community is a bit cliqueish, which makes it really difficult to trade. I rarely ever trade anymore, although I've not completely given up on it, I do the occasional trade on pinpics, but otherwise I buy all of my pins. I no longer live in LA so ebay has become my only pin resource, and while it can be frustrating to have amassed so many traders and not be trading them, I have found some great deals. I know shocking. So I might do like dalakersnumba1 and start selling some of my traders so that I can buy more of my wants.

I'm not sure if I was at all helpful, but I feel ya man. And as much as WDW people complain about how great DLR has it and DLR people complain about how great WDW has it, I think that they all forget the rest of us who have nothing not even Disney Shopping anymore. And while this is totally off base, but has been bugging me ever since some dude commented on how we "choose" where we live, for those of us who live in the real world that is total BS, I HAD to leave LA for financial reasons and believe me I left kicking and screaming.

And while Sacramento is a lot closer than Oregon, I know that it's still far enough away to miss out on all of the fun. And all of the great pins. I know I wouldn't have half the traders I do if I hadn't have lived close enough to go on a weekly basis. But it sounds like you have people who are willing to help you with that, and that's something to be happy about.

And PS...it seems like a lot of girls are crushing on you and that's always good.
