Hello everyone! So I noticed on the forums that there are very few threads that are dedicated to Kingdom Hearts. Seeing as Kingdom Hearts is technically a Disney license, I wanted to make a thread dedicated to my favorite video game franchise of all time :).

I want this thread to be dedicated to talking about merchandise for the franchise as well as gushing over how much we love the franchise in general. Kingdom Hearts has always been very popular in the gaming world, but recently its finally garnered full attention from Disney in that we are seeing them give it complete recognition at their D23 Expos, on their websites, and in the parks with things like merchandise and launch events. This is even greater if you count the fact that Kingdom Hearts 3 is FINALLY in development after all of these incredibly long years of waiting!

So I wanna know what types of merchandise you would like to see? More plushes, figures, and pins? Or something else entirely? Personally, I would like to see more limited edition merchandise like statues and pins. Some plushes of the characters would be nice too of course. And who wouldn't want an official Keyblade replica? And are you guys excited for Kingdom Hearts 2.5 and Kingdom Hearts 3? Speaking of which, a new trailer was released for 2.5 today. I'll share a link.

Yes...I do like KH...lol I have a whole thread of my KH collection (which is now not up to date anymore) somewhere here...IDK where it is lol xD

Today was quite the opportune day to post this thread considering:

- KH 2.5 got a release date
- New KH 2.5 soundtrack
- New KH 2.5 Ultimania announced
- New Sora Limit Form Play Arts Kai announced

At first, I had no idea the soundtrack, Ultimania, and Play Arts Kai had been announced so that statement REALLY caught me off guard :lol:. But now that I know all of this information, I am even more excited now! It is a really good time to be a Kingdom Hearts fan.

Japan is getting a LOT of diverse buying options including a collectors edition of sorts, so I am expecting Square Enix of America and Europe to create a collectors edition of their own. They have done it for almost all of their recent RPG's, such as Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD, Lightning Returns, Final Fantasy 14 A Realm Reborn, and they recently just announced that Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call would be getting one too. So I am gonna take an educated guess and say that Square Enix will release a collectors edition for 2.5 that contains the Play Arts Kai of Sora in his Limit Form, the soundtrack, and an art book. If not, then I may just have to import it because I am a fanboy like that lol.

I really hope we get some new information about Kingdom Hearts 3 at this years E3. I mean, that small tease at the end of the Kingdom Hearts 2.5 trailer was fantastic enough (like how they are hinting that things may get pretty dark), but I would like an update on a Disney world that is going to be in the game or something.

Lol, I nearly had a fit when I was at WDW in 2012 and I found the metal Heartless keyring and the Organization Mickey keyring. I would buy ANY Kingdom Hearts merchandise that WDW wanted to sell me, so I wish they would capitalise on it more.

To be honest, I've not been massively happy with the way SE has been going recently in terms of merchandise. They've stopped producing normal Play Arts, which would retail at around £20-£25, and now only seem to make Play Arts Kai, which tend to retail at £60+. I wouldn't mind, but Play Arts Kai are only slightly more detailed than their Play Arts counterparts. It's like you're paying the extra £40 for a few more points of articulation, which I just don't think is worth it no matter how gorgeous they are. So yeah, I haven't bought any new KH and FF stuff in ages, except for the games, which I'll always buy the best version of. I'm hoping they'll do a Limited Edition of KH 2.5 that matches the Limited Edition of KH 1.5 that they did. Would be awesome to have a full blown Collector's Edition with all the trimmings, but I think they'll save that for KH3.

Well I compared my Lara Croft 2013 play arts kai to my standard Sora Wisdom Form play arts and they have certainly improved in quality over the years. The Kai line, at least now, has a lot more detailing, a better paint job, more articulation (they have click joints as well), and they are packaged much nicer. But I gotta agree that I feel that they overprice them when compared to the normal original play arts. I refuse to pay over $100 for a variant "designer-like" play arts kai of the Warrior of Light from the original Final Fantasy. I am crazy when it comes to collecting, but not THAT crazy XD.

As for the limited/collectors edition, I would assume that they would at least make an art book limited edition like what you are wanting so that way you can have a matching set of sorts with the 1.5 limited edition. However, I am also going to assume that we will get a collectors edition for it on the Square Enix online store. I mean I am probably just being too optimistic lol but I am going by their past RPG releases, in which they have released a collectors edition exclusive to their online shop for almost every RPG after 1.5. They are also treating this release with more care and attention than 1.5. To give you an idea, 1.5 didn't get a soundtrack release, but 2.5 is getting one, and Japan is getting several collectors editions for the game themselves. I have watched trailers and seen gameplay on youtube and think the games look excellent! And have noticed they have a large fanbase but have sadly never played any of them:( hopefully a game will get released soon for Wii U or xbox one or something, I will have to check out any future games.

They are fantastic games! I really hope that someday you will be able to play them, because I think every Disney fan that likes video games should try them at least once. Its one of gaming's most celebrated and popular franchises for a reason. To give you an idea, me and many other people cried when Kingdom Hearts 3 was announced, because we have been waiting since 2006 for it to be announced, and the franchise was such a large part of many of our childhoods.

It wasn't my first game, but it was my first PS2 game and it was the game that really got me into gaming in general. I am so hyped for 2.5 and I cannot wait to see what they do with 3 :).
 
Unfortunately because I live in Europe, we tend to miss out on the Collector's Editions. :( The CE you guys got for KH on 3DS was amazing, but we only got the standard version. So I can't get my hopes high for anything decent sadly! :) The SE store is doing a CE of the next FF Theatrhythm game, which I promptly ordered. At least it's a good sign!

@_@ The KH 2.5 stuff they showed at E3 was great!

Not really for Kai these days. Unless of course you like overly glossy looking figures. I think they peaked just as they started the Kai line. The recent stuff just doesn't look as good unless it is armour based (see Batman or anything Halo). Hopefully this new Sora will be good. I mean, even in hindsight when I look back at my old Sora...it wasn't really that amazing after all.

Another key difference to Kai is the size. They're bigger than the original line.

SE are more and more pushing for Store exclusive stuff, so I think a Sora figure bundle might happen through them only, who knows.
 
I think the Tron Sora and Riku look gorgeous, but yeah, I would still prefer it if they still made regular Play Arts!
 
Gonna bump this thread. Its been a long time since anything has been posted here, but I figured I would try to kick some life back into it! So I guess I would inform those who don't know that a limited edition Play Arts Kai figure of Sora in his Final Form will be sold at the Kingdom Hearts fan event that is taking place during the D23 Japan Expo. Its LE of 999, so its gonna be a pain to get on the secondary market. Also, a plush of the Flood Unversed from Birth By Sleep is releasing sometime this year!

I'm so excited for the new game! My brother and I went to the parks recently and we were walking through a shop in Tomorrowland and he went "HOLD ON! WHAT'S THAT?!" and buried with all the Star Wars pin was a Kingdom Hearts pin! It was the craziest thing we absolutely would have missed it! Anyway, it's the only Kingdom Hearts merch we've seen in the parks, so we bought it :) It was this pin:

Awesome find! That pin is one of my personal favorites! I honestly wish we had more KH pins. What ones we do have are usually pretty limited and event exclusives, so you have to pay an arm and a leg just to get them if you don't grab them at retail! I am currently trying to track down the one that was recently released at the GenEARation D event. The one that was in the box with all the other video game pins. I want the full set, but I want the KH one more than any of the others!

I have seen this pin pop up on eBay a few times! I was wondering where it came from, but I couldn't find any information on it! Now I am gonna be stalking my local Hot Topic to see if they have any.
 
I was literally very surprised to find a thread about Kingdom Hearts here!
I have myself been a huge fan of the games since my childhood when i had a lot of fun time playing it.
Can't wait for KH 2.8 and KH 3 to come out, who doesn't?

However i don't have a lot of things from the game like collection items, more then just two action figures of Kairi and Sora, by Play Arts.
Which i bought from a store in Stockholm a long time ago.

I would love to get some more collection items from the game, maybe there will be more to come when KH3 is out! ^^

I love both of those exclusives. Stuff like this really makes me jealous and upset that I cant afford to go to Comic Con. It would be REALLY convenient if some website was offering them for sale for a limited time so people like me wouldn't have to pay stupidly overpriced eBay prices.
