I grew up in Southern California and lived and worked there until about six years ago. I moved to Texas and when I had kids, I started traveling every year to Disneyland. Now I own DVC so we travel to both WDW and DLR every year (although I think that will end soon). I collect elongated pennies and thought to start collecting pins for my kids. I have a great pin board for the kids and my wife and I.

I'm a little shocked to discover the tidal wave of counterfeit pins and scrappers, although I guess I shouldn't be. Anyways, this is going to be a much smaller hobby I think, but I'd at least like to collect genuine pins which is why I'm here.

Welcome to DPF Agogley! :wavey:

I'm new to pin trading as well, so I also had that shock when I joined. Luckily it's when we're starting out though and not after we had lost a lot!

I look forward to seeing you on the forums! (Though I am a little jealous of your DVC )

Aloha and Welcome! :wavey:

Try not to be deterred by scrappers and counterfeits; this is something that (unfortunately) is part and parcel with every collectible-based habit ... er ... hobby. Your best defense against the dodgy pins is to educate yourself; learn what the pins are meant to look like and which pins have been copied the worst.

If you have any questions about pins or pin trading/collecting, don't hesitate to ask them; I'm sure that someone or several someones will be more than happy to answer them for you. :)
