Hey there,

I started trading back in 2001 and used to be at Disneyland once a week. I started with a Tinkerbell/Pluto collection, but it got out of hand so I decided to scale back and now I pretty much exclusively collect Lady and the Tramp - dogs only (No Si/Am). There have been SO many new pins and while I continued to buy a pin here and there I haven't been in the trading game or really actively collecting since I went on hiatus over five years ago. I realized however that I never did find my grail pin so I've decided to try jumping back into trading to fill out more of my collection and maybe someday find my most elusive pin. (I keep telling myself that's the marker for when I'll be 'done' with my collection HA!)

I try and keep my collection and such up to date over on pinpics and recently found pin & pop. If anyone has some new info/advice for someone coming back after a long hiatus please let me know!
I've noticed that people are less inclined to trade based on year/addition size and look more for a pins trade price when trading, but I don't know how people determined that value? Ebay? I also see Disney pins coming from places like Pink A la Mode & Loungefly - are these as desirable as park pins or is this just a preference thing?

Welcome!

Love your background story.

PinandPop is one of my favorite places to trade. I think it is also a favorite of many of us here on DPF. We have lots of threads about pinandpop. I also still do quite a bit of Pinpics trading.

These are two of the biggest threads where we have discussed pinandpop:

I still trade my way. I avoid (but I keep it in the back of my mind for many pins) only using 'value' per eBay/Mercardi/etc., although this way of valuing is very common. eBay values are routinely not very accurate IMO. Many others might say otherwise, but I stick to my guns. I buy my pins at cost or very close to cost, so I don't need to pay attention to secondary market value. My criteria could include:
- LE Size
- How much I paid for a pin
- How much I like a pin
- Do I like the pin being offered better?
- How much I want a pin
- Has the other trader been polite or are they being too agressive? (I walk away when I am uncomfortable)
- And more 🙂

I encourage traders to figure out trade value their way.

Just curious, what is your most elusive pin?

Welcome to DPF. 🙂
I want to know too! You can't leave us hanging like that!
I think Loungefly and PALM and the other sources are based on preference. Personally, I like them because I live 1,000 miles from a park and have yet to find locals that share my interest (and I want to be friends with 😅). These licensed sources outside of the parks is really my only source of pins. And this site too of course, but I have a small collection and I don't have many peoples iso's. I guess finding my place in the pin trading world is still a work in progress.
Anyway, welcome to the forum!

@TheMickeyMouseRules - Thanks for the info and warm welcome. I love your trading criteria since that's the way I sort of learned it when I first started too.

@Pidge - Hello! I try and pick up extra Lady and the Tramp when I find them so that if I come across another LATT lover I can share the good fortune lol I remember there used to be so few pins and now there have been quite the influx, especially with the loungefly blind boxes!

@momin.ator - My grail has been the Lady dressed as Si/Am from the Howl-o-ween set from 2004 - She's an LE100 and has evaded me for over a decade.

@firechief18 - Thank you!

@Cicada - Thanks, It's been an age since I've been in an active forum!

@Sithathoriunet - I absolutely understand about trying to keep the collection in check! I'm always in awe of Stitch collectors for that reason.

@Nursteve - Haha! It's the Howl-o-ween Lady dressed as Si/Am pin, almost two decades of trying to get her and she still eludes me, but it's good to still feel like there's a hunt out there! I absolutely feel for you being far from the parks, I stayed with a friend up in Washington for a few months while she wasn't feeling well and that's what led to me buying a LOT of loungefly blind boxes lol

@Connies_Hobby - Thank you!

@Story - Thanks, everyone is so warm and welcoming it's nice to be able to chat pins again.

I collect characters in costume... Had to go look at the pin. I see its a whole series.

PinandPop have a few listed, but not the Lady and the Tramp one.
Pin & Pop Pin ID: 71071

It will happen. I found an LE50 pin that was 14 years old when I traded for it. This pin:
Pin & Pop Pin ID: 55405

Will love to hear the day when you gain your grail!

@ohanagalaxy - It's funny, no matter what you collect, you always sort of side eye the cute unique stuff you spot.

@TheMickeyMouseRules - Ha! An intersection I see. Yes, the howl-o-ween is a whole series of cats and dogs swapping costumes. I spotted Stitch dressed as Tramp on a pin and was debating if it belonged in my Lady and the Tramp collection or not. I think characters in costume is a neat collection. Thank you, I feel my hope renewed, now it's a matter of having fun with trades on the way to the grail.
