Hello everyone, Im Dylan and Im basically new to serious pin collecting, having only collected previously on two family vacations. Im 16 and neither my parents nor my sisters collect pins but love disney all the same. So, because I am the only one in my family interested in pins, it was cool to find pin trading online on these forums.

I collect hidden mickeys and vinylmations at the moment.

I am kind of intimidated on how to start acquiring a large amount of good traders through the internet for our next WDW trip so that I can trade with other traders and not just CMs. If any veterans have any tips please just PM me on here or email me at Keyer42@gmail.com.

I am also confused as to how to effectively spot scrappers/counterfeits when trading in person, especially with CMs. I know a lot of the giveaways with most hidden mickey pins and vinylmations but im not sure if those giveaways apply to all pins or not, and I dont want to be trading authentic pins that I paid decent money for, for a scrapper/counterfeit. So if you have any tips please let me know.

Hi--yes a couple of great tips. First go into the forum tab above and scroll down to information and there are a couple great scapper threads, how to trade, conduct on here and elsewhee good places to look for pins in the parks....good stuff. The next important thing you want to do is start a pinpics acct. it is free and you catalog your pins, that will link to this site so everyone can see what pins you have/ wanna trade/ and want----good ways to start to build your collection. also on pinpics it will tell you if certain pins and line of pins have scrapper warnings and what to look for. Finally, trading with CM is hit or miss. I try and just relax and have fun. I will look at a pin front and back and i really cant tell til i get home if it is a scrapper (i still am working on a useful craft to use those scrappers) anyway i gave you lots of homework, just what a 16yr old wants! Hey Dylan! You came to the right place. As far as acquiring good traders, I think this board is a great resource. I trust the rating system here far more than eBay. Welcome to DPF!
