Has anyone else noticed that there are a good number of pins with the same artwork? I understand that some characters have their trademark poses but it can be annoying when a lot of the pins (well, maybe not a lot but like I said, a good number) of characters you like have the same artwork. To me, it makes them less unique. It's also a little annoying.

Here's an example:

So here's Jack.

And here's Jack standing the same way, looking the same again and again...

aaaaaaaand some more...

(just backwards, but the same.)

And now a smudged one. But still the same.

See what I mean? It, well makes me :anxious: :anxious: :anxious: :anxious: :anxious:

How do you feel about this?

Have you never seen the documentary about disney movies.
They have shown classic Jungle Book scenes and compared them to other movies and every move is the same other than the characters.
Disney has done this from day one. In the days of cartoon panes being hand painted and the time invested, they use a lot of the same moves and backgrounds in many different movies.

Change the background and you have a different scene or vice versa.
And in the case of Jack, that is his Classic pose though. But still.

Disney is green, they recycle.

I understand exactly how you feel ... and I can't say that I don't agree with you. If I were to go further, I would say that this, combined with the down economy and too much supply, is exactly why more pins are sitting on racks and not selling out the way they used to. Believe it or not, at one point in time, LE 5,000 and LE 7,500 pins would sell out within a day ... and now LE 500 pins just sit on the racks for weeks. :dunno:

They have been doing it for years with mickey. It does get annoying and makes the pin feel cheapened in a way. At least to me.

Well take this pin as well
pin17974
and
pin81074
I guess changing the color makes it a new pin???? Not even an attempt to change the style of pin.

Yes! It bugs me, too. After a while, I just stopped collecting pins that recreated the same repetitive pose (even when the ad-spin labeled it a "trademark pose").

TheJessta, I LOVE your animation for the UP pin!

:p

There's also quite a few Tinks that are the same. Basically the last 5 3-pin sets of her on disney store. com were the all the same pictures with her surrounded by different things each time lol

I could do the same, but I think the Jack is bad, however the Stitch is soooo much worse!

Stitch round one:

Round 2:

pin32736.jpg
pin31458.jpg
pin24200.jpg
pin34608.jpg

And that's just a couple of poses that they always reuse. I don't really collect the ones when they just keep reusing the same artwork. If they want the money out of my wallet, they have to work harder for it than that.

Yeah, but that first Stitch grouping is a series - that was intentional.

I've done this grouping before, but when you're a Cheshire collector, you get:

And that's just ONE of the common Cheshire poses! :D

I feel your pain, Pinocchio gets very few new pin releases, yet he more often then not is in the same walking pose. Or then again, they just reverse him so he's walking and facing the other way! Or the other pose has his arms streatched out. If I wasnt such an avid collector, I would stop collecting them!

It would be really funny to figure out which character has the most re-used pose on pins. :D

In my theme of collecting, I think it would be the Cheshire one I listed above - the sitting with tail curved up pose:

although there are also tons of pins of him in this pose:

this pose:

this pose:

and this one as well:

I mean, basically take the model sheet pin and that's where the majority of the other pin artwork is from:

pin23530

And that doesn't count all the pins with Alice in the same curtsy or sitting poses or all the pins of the White Rabbit running with his pocket watch...

But there may be a Stitch or a Tink with more pins in the same pose than even the Cheshire grouping I did. Anyone know?

Tink representin', yo.

That's the first 3 pages only, out of 45. I didn't want to be here all night :)

Other poses that have a gazillion pins each:

...gah. Well, really, if you're a Tinker Bell collector, you just get used to it. I'd say 8 out of every 10 pins has a pre-existing pose that's used.

Sadly, it almost seems as though Disney wants to have "stock" character poses used and reused to death. It's a shame as the pins that sell best are the ones where they step out away from that comfort zone yet still remain true to the characters personality.

I guess with the themes I collect, it really has not effected me that much... except for recent dated pins. I can see how it would get tiresome to have pins that are so similar flooding your collection.

I found this odd:
The WDI 2010 lenticular Figment badge uses 2 pics of specific WDI Figment pins that were released the year before. (you can even see the pogo stick on the badge!)

This thread is funny! ha!! I hate recycled material....especially when there is a world of ideas out there. If I got paid to sit around all day and dream up cool pin ideas, I would die with happiness (and we would all get way cool pins!).
