Completed Game: Tell Me About Yourself!(For Pins)
You just joined my Texas pin group on FB!Oooh! Fun game!!!
Where are you from?
I’ve lived in New York my whole life but am about to move to Austin! So excited for this crazy life change!
What's your occupation?
Haha. I never know how to answer this question. I am an actuary by profession and I work at a software company developing actuarial software. Actuaries basically do modeling and risk analysis. They’re the people who figure out how much to charge each person for car insurance so that when a fraction of their customers get into an accident there is enough money to pay the bills. I don’t work in car insurance, though. I work in pension plans (so figuring how much money a company puts into their pension plan so they have cash to pay benefits when people retire). Is anyone still reading? Lol!
What is your first memory of the parks?
I actually don’t remember if it was DLR or WDW because I went to one at age 6-ish and one at age 8-ish, but anyway... I loved, I mean LOVED it’s a small world. So much that it was all I wanted to do. So I made my mother ride it with me a billion times over and over again. That poor woman!!!
Favorite snack or merch to buy at Disney?
Favorite merch?!?! PINS of course!
What was/is your favorite subject in school?
Haha. Majored in Math. (See nerd job above.)
Who is your favorite celebrity?
I am a HUGE fan of the band Barenaked Ladies. I’ve seen them over 100 times and met them so often that they know my name!
What did you do this week?
I signed a lease for an apartment in Austin!!!
And finally, tag one DPFer and tell them something you like about them!
Haha there are so many awesome dpf’ers. I’ll tag @timeerkat. She’s super generous and always gives up her time to do pickups for the community and she is a super sweet person!

Until 10pm on Monday! How long have we got to enter? Can I answer them in the morning?
Ah, got it.Actually I’ve been lurking in there for a few months. Lol. But I was so excited that my move is official I just had to share!!!
I've drawn in a new member, success! That's really cool! I have ADD too but luckily a type that doesn't interfere with my academics much. My mom's from the middle of nowhere Illinois too lol, she always connects with the most random people because she knows all the small Illinois towns they're from. Congrats on the new pins! How kind of you—and how fun, too!
Where are you from?
— I’m from Illinois, in the middle of nowhere (nowhere but cornfields, that is), but a train ride away from Chicago where I frequently go to see touring musicals—and the Disney Store, of course!
What's your occupation?
— I’m a nanny for three dear boys. One day, I hope we'll all go to Disney together! They love Mickey, Donald, Goofy... and Mary Poppins!
What is your first memory of the parks?
— My family drove from Illinois to Florida and I remember I slept almost the whole time. When I woke up, I thought that big moving advertisement for the Tower of Terror on the way to the park was the real thing. I still think of that every time I go!
Favorite snack or merch to buy at Disney?
— My favorite snack is the Lost Princess cone! The flowers are fun to eat. My favorite merch is anything Haunted Mansion, especially Constance.
What was/is your favorite subject in school?
— Art for sure! I had the kindest teachers who always encouraged me to let my creativity flow. As a kid with ADD, almost every other subject was very difficult for me. I felt at home in art classes.
Who is your favorite celebrity?
— Oh gosh. Maybe Lin Manuel Miranda? He’s such a warm, wonderful soul.
What did you do this week?
— Worked and slept! Fall weather is upon us here and my allergies have been driving me bonkers.
And finally, tag one DPFer and tell themsomething you like about them!
— @imp sold me some of my favorite pins in my Constance collection. I only dreamed of being able to afford them before, but Imp made those dreams a reality! Thank you!

Wow so you've been a Figaro fan a long time! Glad you had a fun time in Salem!I’m answering these questions just for fun because I love this type of thing - but please don’t consider me for the pins! I’m currently in cleaning-out mode. But I love your generosity!
I am from Southern California - lived here all my life! Born in Harbor City, raised in San Pedro. As a teenager I moved to Los Alamitos, and then to Laguna Woods to be closer to my grandmother.
I am unemployed (on disability for bipolar disorder) but do odd jobs for neighbors (I live in a retirement community, even though I’m only 34) and often get asked to house and pet sit. I also do occasional volunteer work.
In my first memory of the parks, I was probably about four or five years old. I had just gotten a plush toy of my very favorite Disney character - Figaro the cat. We rode on It’s a Small World and my Figaro toy was innocently dancing along the side of the boat when (gasp!) he fell in the water. I freaked out - tears, screaming, the whole nine yards. I remember my brother trying to save my toy - going so far as trying to jump from the boat onto the area with the animatronics - but Figaro floated just out of reach. It was traumatic. When a kindly cast member found out what happened, the ride paused and someone came out with a pool net and rescued my kitty from a sure death by drowning. I remember being given him back wrapped in a little towel, so I could dry him off and he wouldn’t catch cold. I didn’t ride that ride again for many years. I didn’t trust those dolls after that incident. (Since then, it’s become one of my favorite rides again!)
My favorite snack at Disney is a Dole Whip Float, followed by a Mickey shaped rice krispy treat, which I usually wrap up and take home to enjoy later. My favorite merchandise tends to be pins (big surprise there), artwork from Wonderground Gallery, and mouse ears.
My favorite subject in school was always English.
A few celebrities I admire are Bindi Irwin and Evanna Lynch. I have a crush on Matthew Gray Gubler.
This week my mom and I went to Salem, Massachusetts - it was INCREDIBLE!

Wow so you've been a Figaro fan a long time! Glad you had a fun time in Salem!
Where are you from? Originally from Brooklyn and have lived in the NoVa area for the last 8 years.
What's your occupation? I'm a tax attorney for a large, multinational financial institution
What is your first memory of the parks? Growing up, we didn't really watch a lot of Disney movies, I was more of a Nickelodeon kid. I remember walking out of NBC in theaters with my dad chasing after me. I hated it then but love it now. Go figure! The first Disney movie I actually loved was Lion King. My dad had a fear of flying so we took Amtrak everywhere or rented a car. The first (and only time) we took the Amtrak down to Orlando was when I was 13 and about a year before Mr. Toad's Wild Ride closed for good. Although I remember absolutely adoring that ride, I remember loving Splash Mountain even more, especially since I grew up reading the books. I also remember losing my favorite hat, my 1996 Yankees World Series Champions hat, on Space Mountain. I still talk about that to this day and I have never worn a hat on a ride ever since. I also remember loving Alien Encounter. I wish that would come back!
Favorite snack or merch to buy at Disney? For favorite snack, does the Monte Cristo at Cafe Orleans count? I also love Disneyland's (not Disney World's) churros and corn dogs. Also, we always make sure to get some popcorn on every trip, although Tokyo Disney kind of ruined popcorn for me at any other park.
What was/is your favorite subject in school? Math of course! I was a Statistics major in college and then started a PhD in Statistics before switching to tax law.
Who is your favorite celebrity? Bill Murray.
What did you do this week? Let's see, I continued my battle with the IRS on blah, blah, blah, boring, boring, long-drawn out tax issue, boring, boring. We're seeing the original Beauty and the Beast in theaters today because...of course, Gaston on the big screen. I just made a trade for one of my all-time Gaston grails, I can't wait for it to get here!!! Exercised a whole bunch, I'm down 17 pounds in a month! Oh and paid off our Star Wars Day at Sea cruise in January!
And finally, tag one DPFer and tell them something you like about them! @FoolishMortal71 - always enjoy reading his posts and we became great friends living in the same area. Also love his Ursula collection!
