I am also behind in my holiday thank-yous.

This year was a crazy time at my house, because of our usual travels to my husband's family or mine, we stayed home this year. And my parents came for 8 days! They came on the 20th, because the 21st is my birthday. We got up for the pre-noon (thus discounted) showing of Frozen, and after a trip to an antique store we arrived back at our house, and found a box from Ms. Merryweather and family.

Inside, was full of all sorts of wonderful things.

The Noel box contained those beautiful cookies that Chroll mentioned in her zap thread. But I was patient enough to grab the camera before biting in.

And oh, that first bite. Ms Merryweather and her sweet daughter used Royal icing to decorate the cookies. When I was little, my Mom used to make wedding/birthday/other occasion cakes to have some extra money. She would use the Royal icing, sometimes on her projects for decorative elements and I would just love the way it would be hard, and then just melt. But she wouldn't usually make it for stuff for us, so I haven't had any for years and years. But one bite and I was 8 years old again, helping my Mom make her cakes.

And then there were other goodies like a Ghirardelli chocolate bar, a new ornament for our "family ornament" tree, Holiday Princess pen, and a package of cookies with a note on them saying that she calls them "crack" from her homeland, because she can never eat just one. Well, because of all the other holiday goodies, I didn't break into them until last night. My husband and I both agree that we understand it's name. A couple of years ago, Crate & Barrel sold some holiday graham crackers that came with a layer of caramel on top of the cookie, and then everything covered in chocolate. We plowed through those like it was a race, and every year since then, I have looked to see if they had them again (no luck). So each year, I've mourned their loss, but these cookies were very similar. Cookie (but not graham), caramel all covered with chocolate. So I guess a trip to the local international market will be in order, whenever I get that particular craving.

And finally, a Disneyland Paris Hiver 2011 Beauty & the Beast pin. Like I said, my birthday is the 21st, which usually coincides with the first day of Winter. I've always wanted to collect the beautiful Paris Winter pins, but as everyone knows...so many pins, so little money. And it came in the cute little Belle stocking, which I had seen this Christmas season, but did not buy because of new sewer line, new couch and trip to Hawaii. So a big Yay! for that one!

So to my friend

Arkadaşım, Teşekkürler

and

Yeni yılınızı kutlar, sağlık ve başarılar dileriz
