Pin 73493: DisneyStore.com - Evil Queen Costumed Tinker Bell

I am keeping this apple-themed, because, well, it should be obvious! I want you to tell me your favorite apple food item and why you like it. You can even post the recipe, but don't get too crazy. I will either do a random drawing or I may decide the winner based on your answer. That's just me feeling the evil! Sorry if you are someone who hates apples. This just won't be your game. So, let's wax eloquent about apples (see what I did there?) :p

Please post by Friday, December 13th (how appropriate) at 5:00 PM MDT.

Well! I have to be in on this.

I adore, hear me? ADORE, apple dumplings. My great aunt who is no longer is here, made the best ones. Just imagine this! Crisp, sweet, Granny Smith apples wrapped in a light and fluffy croscant roll, baked till a light golden brown, then served with a drizzle of honey and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. If the smell does make your mouth water alone, then definitely the taste will drive you completely insane! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

So it's hard to top apple pie or a fresh crisp apple with warm caramel dip. I also a big fan of Mott's Original Applesauce with some cinnamon added ( the pre-cinnamonized just doesn't taste right ). But the best apple item on my list . . . the caramel apple milkshake from Steak N Shake. They only carry it in the fall, so when I can get one, I know it's my favorite time of year and Halloween is just around the corner!

<Its probably obvious, but I don't cook a lot :) >

We make (and bottle) our own applesauce, apple juice, sliced spiced apples (for quick apple pies), and apple butter, but by far my favorite is our apple jelly. It starts with some of that freshly made apple juice, and with a bit of sugar, and maybe a few cinnamon candies for color as well as flavor, the apple jelly has a taste that will knock your socks off! It's not too sweet, just a little tart (apple ... Tart? Two can play that game! Lol) but delicious! I'm getting hungry just thinking about it... Add a spoonful to a fresh slice of homemade bread right out of the oven... Mmmmmm. And the fresh applesauce is AWESOME with grilled pork chops!

My Dad has made a Dutch Apple Cake a few times and its my favourite! Haven't had it in years though as it probably has 209394234 calories in it hehe (It weighs a ton even to pick up!)

It's sort of like an apple cinnamon pound cake and then we put cream cheese icing on top :) SO yummy!

When I was younger I also liked to have cut-up apple and dip it in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar (as you can see I am the picture of perfect health hehe!)

OOOhh! Evil queen pin (sorta)!

My favorite type of apple is the caramel apple. I do not like sweets but when I go to downtown Disney and they are dipping those apples in the caramel sauce, I can't help but spaz out and ask my husband to get me one. I especially love how they dress them up as characters :bigthumb:

My favourite would just be (and I know this is lame but) an apple. Just straight up... Nothing fancy... But if I had to I would say an apple milkshake... It sounds so gross but it is so good!

Ugh so many great apple items to choose from !
But I think I'm going to have to say hot apple juice. In France around this time of year you find mulled wine (hot wine with spices and cinnamon etc - mmm!) and in some places, I've been able to find hot organic apple juice ! With the spices and everything and on a snowy day - THE BEST !

Ahhhh,

I love apple streusel! My favorite is from a small German cafe near my house. It's soooo good. The apples are warm with cinnamon and served with vanilla ice cream and cream sauce. The crust is flaky and the apples are sweet. My mouth is watering...

If we're doing favorite apple... it would be the Honeycrisp, by FAR.

If we're doing favorite "sweet" apple recipe: Either Apple Pecan pie... (think pecan pie top with apple pie insides) Or Cran-apple pie.

If we're doing favorite "savory" apple recipe: Chicken salad made with chicken breast, diced apple, seedless grapes, salted pecans, diced celery, onion, and mayo.

Can ya tell I like apples? ;)

Apple Slices

1 roll Pillsbury® refrigerated sugar cookies 1/4 cup all-purpose flour 2 tablespoons red decorator sugar crystals 2 tablespoons miniature semisweet chocolate chips Black string licorice, cut into 1-inch pieces

Steps

1In large bowl, break up cookie dough. Stir or knead in flour until well blended. Reshape into log. Cut 17x12-inch piece of plastic wrap; place on work surface. Sprinkle red sugar evenly over plastic wrap. Roll cookie dough in sugar to coat. Wrap in plastic wrap; freeze 30 minutes.
2Heat oven to 350°F. Remove half of dough from wrapper; freeze remaining dough until needed. Cut dough into 1/4-inch slices. On ungreased cookie sheets, place slices 2 inches apart. Place 3 chocolate chips in center of each slice to look like seeds. To form slice shape, make 2 indentations on 2 opposite sides with fingers. Repeat with remaining half of dough.
3Bake 8 to 9 minutes or until unsugared edges are light golden brown. Insert 1 licorice piece on top of each cookie to look like stem. Cool 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks.

Everything posted so far looks and sounds yummy! Have you ever sliced an apple and then paired the slices with a slice of cheese? I thought the hubby was crazy when he suggested it but it's actually quite yummy. A nice red apple with cheddar cheese...sounds cheesy but it's actually very yummy!

My favorite apple treat is tie between the Cheesecake Apple and the Apple Pie Apple at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. So, if there's one thing people just don't understand about me, its that I HATE chocolate. Seriously, like to the point that when I walk by a See's Candy shop I get nauseous. I happened to be in Solvang one weekend with my friend and saw the apple display at RMCF and forced myself to go in. That day I tried the Apple Pie Apple and was in heaven! The combination of the cinnamon on the outside and the Granny Smith apple under the candy confection and caramel was incredible. I found an RMCF closer to me and when I went a few months later, they didn't have the Apple Pie Apple, so I chose the Cheesecake Apple. another Granny Smith apple covered in caramel, a light candy confection coating and then crushed graham crackers! This was just as tasty! I don't know how they do it but the combinations of either of these apples, is just the perfect blend of sweetness and bite! If you've got an RMCF nearby, go now!

This is fun!!

Alright...hear me out. You get an apple (preferably Honey Crisp..they are the best!!). Slice it up and make sure to get the core and all the seeds out! :)

Then...get spray butter. You read that right; spray butter. I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray Butter (but not actually butter...apparently).

Put the slices on a plate and spray them with butter (I promise I am going somewhere with this).

Then pop them in the microwave for a few seconds (about 20) so that they get nice and warm and soft.

Then dump them in a gallon sized ziploc plastic baggie. Pour in a cup of sugar and some cinnamon. Close the bag TIGHTLY and shake them like crazy!! Coat every slice of warm, soft, buttery apple with cinnamon and sugar!

The sweets will almost caramelize and melt together on the apple. It is so so good!! And very simple, anyone can make it!

My aunt used to make it for myself and my three cousins (who are practically my sisters). Its just one of those odd childhood memories that you never quite forget!

Well, though quite simple, my FAVORITE apple treat is a homemade Dutch apple pie (or caramel apple pie! Yummmmmm!!! ) Preferably one made with Honey Crisp apples!!! ;) My mom made one for my grandpa's birthday and it was SO incredible and delicious!!!! It was heaven!!! Though, I will say, I am rather biased (sp) towards pie...I think it is my favorite food!!! :D

I am going to have to try some other things off here!

How has nobody brought these suckers up!?

The perfect snack for the end of your busy day at Disneyland. I was always a fan of the traditional caramel apples, but my girlfriend has always been partial to the caramel apple pie. Hard to eat unless you slice them into pieces. Before we moved down to Southern California, we would sit in the hotel room and I would eat a bag of gummy worms while my girlfriend enjoyed a caramel apple.

I love a good ole natural apple (honeycrisp 1st choice, pink lady runner up) dipped in some of my sisters homemade cinnamon & honey cashew butter! Sooooo delicious! I eat it almost every day!!! Yum

OOOOH!

For me it's French Apple Pie/Dutch Apple Pie. It's one of my dad's favorite deserts, served warm with a side of delicious, cold vanilla ice cream. It's like a regular apple pie, but it has crumbly sugary pieces on top. But my dad always forgets what its called and only remembers the crumbly top, so he orders it as "that crummy apple pie, which makes waiters and waitresses very confused (and slightly offended). Hahaha

I k.this is going to sound strange. I like pies and cakes and all sweets... but for apples...I like them raw...boring. ..but fresh! That is my favorite way tl eat an apple. Yeah...yeah... not quite as exciting as the yummy recipes listed. Oh. A close favorite. ..the disney caramel apples with chocolate and nuts and rice crispy and white chocolate. ..yum !

Im a big fan of apples. Especially green apples!! My mother-in-law makes this weird salad that she invented and it is absolutely delicious. Its greek yogurt, with diced green apples, diced ham, corn and raisins. I know it sounds kinda weird and gross, but it is delicious! I could get the recipe, but I'd have to ask her.

We just had a fundraiser at work for Toys For Tots & I made a few apple kuchens using my Mom's recipe. It's loaded with calories, but delicious. It's so easy to make & oh so good.

Mom's Apple Kuchens (cake)
3 cups flour
1-1/2 cup sugar
1 stick of butter

Mix above together & press 1/2 of the mixture into a greased 9 x 13 pan.

Cut into slices 4 lbs of Jonagold apples (or sub your preference of baking apples). Add 1/4 cup brown sugar to apples & place apples over bottom crust. Sprinkle remainder of flour/sugar/butter mixture on top of apples. Bake in 350 degree oven for 1 hour & enjoy!! Ummmm let it cool off a little first...lol. You may be tempted to increase the amount of the flour/sugar/butter ingredients to have more topping (I usually do!!)

I would have to say I love a nice warm homemade apple pie with vanilla ice cream and a warm apple cider to wash it down. Wish south Florida had some good apple trees. I miss being in the north east and picking my own apples. Nothing is better.

Oh, my gosh, such delicious apple things. Judy, those apple cookies are adorable! Both Alex's recipes sound very interesting. Lumiere, I've never had apple dumplings but you made them sound wonderful. Norlando, I love to make jams and jellies, although I haven't tried apple jelly yet. My peach rum jam is legend around these parts. I made 3 batches this year and I have none left. Why is the peach rum jam gone? OK, it's a bad pun, but the jam really is awesome. Thank you all for your wonderful submissions!

I'm picking the winner this time, rather than do the random selection, because one of you brought up a very happy memory for me. When I was pregnant, I absolutely CRAVED apple milkshakes. Not caramel apple shakes, but just plain old apple milkshakes. My hubby, bless his heart, made the trek to the one place that sold them many times, while I stayed home and put my swollen feet up. He never complained once. Thank you Aceastrococopuff! You win. PM me your address and I'll get your pin out asap.

I'll be back next week with a new game.

Congrats Aceastrococopuff!!! :bigthumb:

I want some of this jam Carla!!! ;) Sounds DELICIOUS!!! I cannot believe you have never had apple dumplings!?!? :eek2: Though I have never even heard of an apple milkshake!
