I thought it would be appropriate to post some trivia that includes Disney and one of the gents in my Forum name -- Nelson Eddy.
Nelson Eddy was the voice(s) of Willie the Operatic Whale in "Make Mine Music". Not only did Nelson sing his usual Baritone, but also Soprano, Tenor and Bass -- not to mention the hundred-voice choir also heard in the short episode. In fact, if it's singing, it's the voice of Nelson Eddy, even including his signature concert classic -- "Shortnin' Bread".
This was groundbreaking technology back in 1946, and Nelson Eddy had actually been working with multi-track recording in his home for some time when the Willie the Whale idea came up. To the audience of the day, it was a miraculous feat to hear Nelson singing with himself, so this was really cutting edge for Disney to release.

Apparently, there were notes drawn up in 1971 for a never built "Willie the Whale Complex" at WDW. It was to feature an aquarium and marine mammal park while incorporating animation in the shows.

There was even a 78rpm album released for this amazing technological achievement:

Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride trivia (of course!)

What famous literary character is seen in the ride?

Elementary, my Dear DPF! It’s Sherlock Holmes.

It was done in homage to the movie’s narrator, Basil Rathbone, who played the detective 14 times.

Bonus trivia: If you recognize the last name, it might be because Basil Rathbone is distantly related to Jackson Rathbone of the Twilight series fame (also related to Stonewall Jackson).

I always find out really interesting facts while I’m trading at Disneyland with cast members but always seem to forget bits and pieces.

One that sticks out that I actually remember though... Pirates of the Caribbean is the last ride that Walt helped design, since he past away a few months before it opened. Sad he never got to ride it will it was open. Hopefully he got to at least test it.

CM also told me it was supposed to be a walk-through ride until they were inspired by Small World and followed its design. I can’t imagine walking through Pirates, would be so creepy!!!

And I felt really silly when I didn’t realize Pirates and Small World are basically the same rides with different themes and a few dips. I guess their themes are so contrasting that I never realized the similar ride concepts :p

This may be common knowledge but I had a lightbulb moment when the CM kindly shared it with me. Makes me appreciate it so much more knowing it’s one of Walt’s last rides.

Q: Who is the only actress to voice 2 Disney Princesses?

A: Lea Salonga, who does the singing for Princess Jasmine and Mulan.

My piece of trivia is related to this one:

Q: Who is the other actress that *technically* voices two Disney Princesses, but we don't really count her?

A: Idina Menzel, who voices Elsa, also plays Nancy in Enchanted. Nancy turns into a cartoon character at the end and marries Prince Edward, becoming a princess! Or maybe she's actually the only person to voice two Disney Queens? Since Narissa dies at the end of Enchanted, does she become the Queen of Andalasia?:eek::eek: Mind blown.

What a fun game!

I will share some fun facts about Disney movies in Sweden. Some characters and some movies get different names in Sweden. Some dont, have no idea why :)

So some facts.
Most big movies is just translated word for word. Like Snow white and the seven dwarfs is just that but in Swedish. "Snövit och de sju dvärgarna"
Pinicchio, Dumbo, Bambi is just the same, no translations since they are names that kind of works here as well.

Then there is Cinderella. Its translated to "Askungen" that litteraly means the ash kid. :D

Sleeping Beauty is a bit harder to translate. Its not like the US version at all. We never call her Sleeping Beauty. The movie it self is called Törnrosa. It kind of means Thorn of the Rose but made in to a word that does not really exist so that is sounds like a name.

Then we have a few years where they dont translate the movies so we are all happy and then comes "Home on the Range" In Sweden its called "The cow gang" o_O

I think you all know about Moana. In Europe its called Vaiana. Its said to be because there is a porn actres named Moana here so they dont wanted kids to google a Disney movie but find porn. :D

Zootopia is called Zotropolis, no idea why.

And now on to a few characters that got new names. A lot of characters gets new names here I guess because they are supposed to be names that kids know and that are easy to pronounce but there there are those names that just makes no sence that they changed. Like in the movie UP we have Kevin. That is a name that works here as well, but still they changed it to Kenneth. Most of the other characters got to keep their original names. They just changed Kevin to Kenneth (In my mind its actually harder to say that name than Kevin) and Russel is named Oscar.

One more. Fab Five. Minnie and Mickey got other names over here but nothing cracy. Mimmi Pigg and Musse Pigg. Last name I have no idea why they change. Should have just named them Mus (Mouse). Pluto is the same. Daisy is Kajsa, just a more usual girls name. Donald Duck is named Kalle Anka. Anka means Duck so that is the same. Kalle is just a regular boy name here and I guess they changed it to make Kajsa and Kalle fit together.

Now comes the crazy part. Goofy. In Swedish he is named Långben. Translated that means Long legs! :D

In my discovery, I came across an article about Walt Disney's Alpine Village plans for Mineral King, CA that got approved in 1965.

:stitch:My trivia-Country Bear Jamboree was originally designed for the resort, as entertainers at a restaurant. The village wasn't meant to be an amusement park, but a family year round recreational destination. :stitch:

My husband told me this little tidbit (which he does not necessarily like as he is retired military), but most of the U.S. flags in the Disney parks only contain 45 stars so they are not actually official flags and therefore, Disney does not have to follow the rules for displaying official U.S. flags (i.e. illuminating or lowering at night, etc...).

One of the last things Walt Disney wrote before he died was Kurt Russell's name misspelled as "Kirt", because he wanted the actor to star in one of Disney's upcoming movies.

I'm going to have to question this one or at least ask for more detail...

Kurt Russell was in Follow Me Boys which opened on 12/1/66.

Disney died on 12/15/66.

Thank you! That helps. I had read the trivia as though he wanted Russell to star in a future _first_ movie for Disney, not _another_ upcoming movie. My apologies for reading that wrong!

No worries, I had never heard it so both gave me a reason to look it up. What a fun story, Kurt must have felt so special knowing that information.

Who was the first superstar to perform on records that were totally produced, marketed, and distributed by the Disney Company?

In 1958, Mary Martin sang many hit Disney tunes on an album entitled "Hi-Ho: Mary Martin Sings Disney Favorites". The album was also the first album to feature an artist singing only Disney hit songs. A special verse for Bibbity-Bobbity-Boo was also written especially for her for the album recording.

1) What are the Disney Main Street Firehouse numbers, and how did they choose them?

2) When did the Disney Fire Engine debut on Main Street?

3) What is the design of the fire engine based on?

4) Mickey Mouse was a fireman in what cartoon? When did it debut?

5) When building the 5 story high Pandora ride - Flight of Passage - the Reedy Creek Fire Department spend several training sessions in the ride figuring out how to rescue people should the ride breakdown. The space between the movie screen and the actual ride is big enough to accommodate a ladder truck which would be necessary to rescue the riders.

1 - Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom: Orlando, Florida - 71 (The year the park opened - 1971)
Disneyland: Anaheim, California - 105 (Actual Address- 105 Town Square)
Only the US parks have firehouses. Paris has a car barn that looks similar, but it is not a firehouse.
The firehouse in Disneyland has an apartment on the second floor that was one of Walt's haunts. To this day, it is controlled by the Disney family.

2 - 1958

3 - Early 1900's engines such as the Rambler and LaFrance

4 - Mickey's Fire Brigade 1935

The only cast member trivia that stumped me was what was the first movie that the prince is the main character? It took my sister and I forever and I don't think we ever got it but it was Bambi since he is the Prince of the Forest.

For Epcot, Future World is supposed to represent America and World Showcase borders Future World with Mexico and Canada which borders the US in real life with the America pavilion on the opposite side of the World Showcase.

The river in the Mexico pavilion is named El Rio del Tiempo which means the River of Time.

Some CMs say Epcot stands for 'Every paycheck comes on thursday'.

I love trivia so this was a great game, thank you for hosting!
