Drama or not to drama - that is the question?
This may be a controversial statement but I don't really care if someone's lively hood is wrapped up in pins. It's supposed to be a hobby, not a business for anyone but Disney (because they are Disney pins). And if it collapses. Those employees will move on to the next merchandising item Disney is selling. It's not anyone's responsibility to keep Disney pin resellers in business.

I never said it was anyone's responsibility to keep anyone else in business. I was merely trying to point out that the reason why this is more personal to some than others, and thus why this discussion is so heated. Furthermore, you may not care what happens to others but some of these people are my friends so I do care.

I too care about people who sell their pins because they need the money. It happened to me and I was grateful the pin friends I had came to my rescue. We are a great community and we truly care about each other. You are right it is not our RESPONSIBILITY, but isn't it our duty as friends to help each other? Just IMO.

I never said not to support your friends. Nothing wrong with that. Also nothing wrong with selling things you own when you have pressing monetary needs.

I speak of those who have created a business out of a hobby. Again, fine that they do that, but also I have no sympathy when business is bad. They took a risk. No one in the hobby owes them a living. And if changes in the hobby affects their bottom line negatively -- too bad. Don't wage a war on others in the hobby to try to save your business.

Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, you are contributing to the drama. Let's leave well enough alone. This was NOT a discussion about business (although I have owned several successful ones) but about censorship. I'm trying NOT to drama today. Tomorrow - who knows????

You are missing my point entirely. I am just explaining why this is such a hot topic to some people more-so than others. Also I wanted to try to get people to realize that for some this is not just a hobby. I never asked anyone to have any sympathy for anyone else - although it wouldn't hurt to have some consideration for others.

And I just want to point out I am not talking about anyone specifically - a lot of people use this hobby as a source of income - just some more than others.

I sold my Tinkerbell collection to pay the vet bill when my 2 year old kitten was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer . I didn't ask nor get anything near what they were worth . I only paid half the vet bill and told him to try and sue me for the rest and I'd sue him right back . My poor Mr Binks did not get sick till after we used prescription flea drops on him . They didn't even have it in his records and I was asked, did they use dog drops on Mr Binks ? I said, are you serious ? It was done here by your tech and not put in the records . He had the nerve to say , well you got free flea & tick meds and I replied yeah and a dead cat !!!
I sold some pins to fund my son's hopper pass . I sold enough to pay for half of it .
If I were near DSF , I could never buy pins and charge double or triple the price . I don't care if I sat in snow, ice or rain . I just couldn't do it and live with myself, but that is my personality .
On to the next subject , I think we were talking about why the thread was taken down before we all had a chance to read it !

I believe this .gif describes a lot of people's emotions regarding all of this

Personally, I feel blessed to have been able to make a business out of a hobby I love.

Glad for you, but personally I feel that my love for the hobby and my respect for some of my fellow hobbyists diminished in the light of recent events. When people's interests are different - hobby vs business - their motives can also be different.

Riftraft ... nailed it :)

Sorry Margaret, I took as side-step. Back to the drama-or-not-to-drama folks: Opinions ?

I have mainly stayed away because frankly I have enough drama going on: I'm getting married in 2 months! :p

But I do love this forum and I enjoy everyone on here. :)

Let's try to move on from all this negativity, and bring pin trading back to what it was meant to be, a fun hobby!

Thought I'd share this....

I was at the San Diego pin meet this weekend, and I got to meet the famous LANSAM. They were all super nice, especially Lenny! It didn't take me long to realize how much they love this hobby,

Did you look carefully ?? No horns, no tails, nothin' ???

We aren't in the Pin Hunger Games ... and this isn't District PT vs District DPF, where only one can survive and the winner gets showered with gifts.

Whaaaaa?? it isn't?? Crap, I better leave then. LOL.

Stef, I came back just in time to jump into a new drama. Its like those Spanish Novellas.. the new series started, leaving behind old characters.

Ummmm, sorry but were you expecting to meet a total jerk??? That would have been a great first impression, right?

Just saying....
Even when people first meet me, they think I am such a sweetheart.
Oh wait.. I am.
Um, what I mean is...

I think first impressions always are good. But I've done my research, had my posts on PT bumped off, and been censored way too much. I'm glad you like them, Miranda, and I hope they do the job they say they are going to do, but I still have my reservations. Anytime you stop the flow of information and limit what is "said" and/or "heard" you lose the ability to make informed decisions. Those are my concerns. I could care less if they are nice or they are ogres, but I do care that they are very controlling and rigid when it comes to what gets put on PT and PP.

And that's why I take you to Curry when you come to Cali... So you can think about how far you live from the restaurant, and have to wait 364 days til your next meal with me!! Ha ha... Ain't life a biatch like me?? Lol
